Wow, what an end to the 2008 hunting year. I killed a doe this morning on my property. Sorry no pics. I left my camera at home (I never do that) . Might be a good thing too. The pics would have been pretty messy. I made a 26 yard shot on a doe and hit her a little far back. She ran around me and offered another shot, she was quartering away at 30 ish yards. I reloaded and sent another Rage on it's way. This one deflected off of a limb and hit low. I saw a puff of white hair and she took off over the hill. I went and got the first arrow and smelled gut, went to the spot of the second hit and saw a pile of white hair and another blood covered arrow. There was lots of blood on the trail and bits of chewed up food. I left for 3 hours and came back to take up the trail. I found her dead about 150 yards ahead on a BLOOD trail Stevie Wonder could have followed.:d The first arrow had hit the liver and exited thru the guts. The second arrow did most of my field dressing for me. I bet half of her guts were hanging out of an 8" gash my Rage put in her belly. Took her over to a friends house and hung her and went back for the afternoon sit. I didn't kill a deer in the afternoon but it was one of my favorite sits this year. I saw 22 deer total from 2:55 till dark. 7 of those were different bucks and the rest were does and fawns. There was one group of 5 bucks that came to the food plot together. None were shooters all under 100 inches. Lets just say they were still getting to know one another. It was one shoving match after another,A couple of times 3 of them would hook up, and I have never seen so much postering in my life. Like a bunch of teenagers in the workout room trying to one up the next guy. They entertained me for almost a half hour before leaving. There was a group of 8 does and fawns that decided to play tag in the food plot. They were chasing one another all over the place. And with the ground thawing there was some slipping and sliding going on too. One tried to turn to fast and sat down in the mud. I had a ringside seat to the best show going today, and the price of admission was right too.
