Last night I hunted with a buddy at a public land spot close to springfield and didnt see much activity. We decided to go glass another field that we wanted to hunt, but were kinda late getting out there. We left the blind around 6:30 and walked slowly with an arrow knocked. All of a sudden I spotted a deer about 15 yards way in a bean field with a timber strip between us. I told my buddy joe to stop and we froze. All of a sudden a coyote howled pretty close to us and they took off running. I drew and waited for them to come through the opening of the field. They did, but we couldnt get them to stop. The one was a spike that I wasnt going to shoot anyway. We rounded the corner and there were 3 more in the back of the field were we wanted to setup. We decided to check another field and on the way spooked up an armadillo. I decided to shoot him. After the hunt we got back to the truck to have a conservation agent check our tags and stuff and he noticed the blood on my arrow. I told him i shot an armadillo and asked if that was legal. He said well technically it is not in the books anywhere and they didnt have a season. Luckily he was cool and didnt give me a ticket. He said he wasnt going to do anything over an armadillo. I said good cuz I about rolled my ankle with all the damn holes out there they are making. Note to self. Dont shoot any more armadillos. lol. Luckily I didnt get some ass hole. He graduated from the same school me and my buddy did and we got to talking about school since my buddy is going for wildlife conservation. I'm gonna give that place another shot soon.
