My boys and I went out w/a friend of mine & her husband out on Lake Michigan last Tuesday. They said we did the best of the whole week we were there. This was the boys first trip out on the big water, and boy were they excited when we finally located them. Not a bad day out for 4 hr investment. Lost 3, took 7. Of the 3, one broke the hooks of a spoon, one snapped the line, and the last i just plain lost. The oldes boy's fish will be mounted. His first fish. Unbelieveable beginner's luck.

the beginning of the day, a good omen: calm winds from the southwest

    Nice fish!

Now you're in my neck of the woods, as I live in Racine.

    Congrats.

That is an awesome fish, congrats to your boys. I was up in Door County around the 4th. taking the dog for a swim in the lake when we came across this fish flopping around on the bank. My future son in law & I spent about 45mins. trying to revive it. Even though it got stronger it just could never keep itself upright, anyway would you happen to know what kind of fish this is?

Looks like fun! You'll have to post up pics of the mount when it's complete.

Awesome catch! I got my sons salmon mounted 2 years ago, at 12$ an inch it got expensive real fast but well worth it!

I found a guy in Beloit that has been doing taxidermy for 25 yrs and his specialty is fish. He only charges $6 an inch. I saw some of the mounts he did at his home, and one that he was touching up that he had done 25 yrs ago. Just an FYI.
