Blend of soft and hard? What is it made out of? Only thought bags were soft ie cloth type of material or hard ie plastic..
If you will not be flying with your bow, all you need is a Plano ($30-40). I have a Plano SE and it fits my HTR or HeliM with the quiver full of arrow still attached. I saw found some on clearance at Walmart last January for $20...I got 2.
I have the plano all weather series case. Seems solid and no complaints from me over the past 5 years. Don't set a price limit on a case if you spent 1650 on a new set up. You'll have that case longer than you have the bow, so go with quality.
I feel the SKB would be overkill for me because i will not be flying with it. All I need it for is hauling it in my truck to my properties that i hunt (20 minutes) and the occasional northern MN hunt (3 hours max). I am taking it to Colorado next fall to elk hunt but it'd be in an enclosed trailer, strapped down.
Yea sounds like overkill. I bought it because I take a boat on the Mississippi River to get to a few spots I hunt. Barge Traffic doesn't make for a smooth ride
I got the SKB hunter bow case for my new Halon 6. It fits perfect with the Mathews 4 arrow quiver attached. The case wasn't that expensive compared to the cost of the equipment it needs to protect. I'm glad I purchased the case and I expect it to protect my gear worry free for many years to come.
Exactly! I have the SKB rectangle case and it's the real deal! I've traveled to Alberta 5 times with my Hoyt and had zero issues. This case allows you to pack other soft items around your bow, basically guaranteeing it's protection! In fact, SKB offers it's own guarantee against damage.
I ship my bow every year to new England and when I started this in 2007 with my then new $500 bow I used a $40 plano, stuffed clothing around the bow, then double wrapped it in heavy cardboard and it worked fine for 3 years shipping by UPS. I upgraded to SKB when I bought a $1200 Mathews and still pad everything in the case and then ship the case as is with a cable lock through the handles to back up the case locks. Has worked great the last 6 years. Feel much better using the SKB with the more expensive bow. If you are just looking for protection for the bow in a truck, the plano may be fine. And if shipping it in a trailer you could give the plano a little more protection if it needed and it may work fine there as well. But for your bow I'd try real hard to get a solid secure case because it's a $1600 dollar investment you are protecting...not to mention needing it operational when you get to your destination. Good luck and good hunting.
Considering you just spent all that money on a new bow, SKB insures up to $1000 on anything (rifle or bow) damaged while stored in one of their cases. If you travel allot for hunting or just throw your case in the back of a truck (we've all been there), I recommend SKB.
Mathews The link for the case I got. I love it cause of all the pockets and I don't have to take my 10" bee stinger off either!
