The SEC Florida Gators have not left the state of Florida to play a non-conference, regular-season opponent since 1991.
That's a slightly misleading fact in that it paints the picture the Gators play all cupcakes. They do play FSU every year (I believe) which is no easy game. The other non-conference games may be cupcakes, just saying.
Easy now, I didn't say they played "the little sisters of the poor" I just found it shocking they have not played out of the state of FL in non conference play for 20 years. One of our biggest Gator fans, rockinchair has never saw his beloved Gators travel out of FL for a non conference game....
I hear you. It's just one of those facts that sound worse then it actually is in my opinion. It's like people saying UT has had 3 coaches in 3 years. On the surface yeah that's true, but everyone fails to mention that UT has also had 3 coaches over the last 20 years.
buckeye fans criticizing other schools for not playing tough teams outside of their conference? are you kidding me?? ohio state is the prime example of the necessity of playoffs in college football. and now they got their little dorky president criticizing TCU and boise state. when was the last time ohio state played a "tough" schedule? they played sissy schedules all through the 2000 decade, won a title with help of a BS pass interference call, got embarassed by two SEC teams in two consecutive years, and then lost to Texas the year after because they didn't play the end of the game intelligently. to be the best, you gotta beat the best! and ohio state has proven that they cannot hang with the best teams in the country.
First of all, I was not criticizing Florida, only posting a fact I found interesting. If anything I have stuck up for the Gators this year when we have discussed them this year. I also agree that Mr. Gee should not have said what he did. It is what it is however and words cannot be taken back. OSU plays a marquee out of conference game almost every season. You will find few teams who schedule home and homes with Texas, USC, Miami, Oklahoma, etc... OSU is also 5-3 in BCS games a 60% winning percentage against the nations elite isn't all that bad.
I've only been preaching the same thing he said...........................all season. Coming from a prolific "piler-on'er"....your words mean very little......lol.
Well gee, beav.......is it a sin to acknowledge when someone else has a similar view? If that's "predictable".....color me guilty.
That stat really doesn't surprise me, but like has been acknowledged it is deceiving. Not so much now that they only play Florida State every year, but more so in the past when they played both Miami and Florida State every year. I have always wanted them to schedule a home and home with someone like Texas, USC (Pete Carroll era) Virginia Tech, West Virginia or Michigan. It would help their fan base and recruiting, not to mention beef up their schedule. But, after the thrashing the Gators took this past Saturday, I think it's best the keep the easy non-conference schedules.
Ohio State ALWAYS schedules a difficult non-conference. Like Buckeye said, they've scheduled Miami, OU, USC, Texas and a home and home with Virginia Tech in the future are just some of the teams off the top of my head. You can't argue against that.
Rangers Not much to being an ND or Cowboys fan in recent years. Cowboys have won A playoff game in the last decade. ND? do the math. By the way you forgot UNC tarheel fan in college hoops.
Damn it! Didn't know that, but not surprised. Duke seems more fitting though. You might want to switch...just sayin.
