Yep, that's my boy with his new Diamond Edge Razor, shooting it for the first time out back. Never thought this would happen, but over the yr., he's really taking to the hunting thing. Can't wait for the fall to get here. As for the typical question, let's hear some suggestions about his form. He looks like his bow arm is bent too much. <a href="http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/hazmatech/?action=view¤t=ethannewbow4-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/hazmatech/ethannewbow4-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/hazmatech/?action=view¤t=ethannewbow2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/hazmatech/ethannewbow2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/hazmatech/?action=view¤t=ethannewbow1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/hazmatech/ethannewbow1.jpg" border="0" alt="ethan new bow"></a> I apologize if the pics don't come up. I haven't done this in a while.
There we go. Any way, I told him to start practicing every day to be ready for the season. thanks to Madhunter for the sight, much appreciated.
You have to love that fact that the boy is wanting to follow in Dad's path. I have two boys and I think they are both more deer crazy than I am and I LOVE IT!!!! As far as your boys form goes, I have a couple of suggestions. 1. Have him square up a bit (like batting) 2. Raise his release elbow a touch to get his arm in line with the arrow. 3. Raise his bow shoulder up, this might help with the bent bow arm. 4. I agree his elbow looks a bit too bent, but it hard to tell if that is because the DL is too short or because his "T" is off. 5. It appears that his peep might not be set correctly for him, looks like it might be too low. Have him get in good form, close his eyes and draw his bow and anchor, then open his eyes. This will let you where his peep should be located. Congrats on getting him shooting, looking forward to seeing him posing with his bow and a deer this fall!
Great to see the kid getting some shooting in, but he looks like his draw is almost 2" too short. He'll probably be more comfortable and shoot a little better with a little longer drawlength I'd think.
thanks for the replies guys. Kickn-buck, I'll try to do that those things you suggested. I kinda thought that his DL was a little short, but my pro shop guys took time to set him up. But it is a little hard to try to teach a left how to shoot righty, because he's right eye dominant.
He can overcome that, I'm by no means a GOOD archer, but I kill a few deer each year, and can hit what I'm shooting at, even if it ain't exactly where I was aiming, and I'm left-handed and Left-eye dominant, but had to switch due to a bad shoulder.
