So the other night I got my first kill of 2010 and the first kill with my new Alphamax. Its after dinner and my wife steps onto the back porch to dump the scraps into this scrap pit we have and she steps out to a opossum at the pit and hissing at her. She steps back into the house and the dog comes running over so the opossum plays dead. So I take this time to decide if I want to shoot it or not and to go grab my bow. When I return the dog is gone and the opossum is back up moving around. So I'm standing just inside the back door and make a 12 yard shot and pin this bad boy to the ground. Its so fun shooting things with the bow! :D

If i shot it i am cleaning it and eating it, my dads only rule about hunting growing up. other than that go for it.

i have ate possum, raccoon, snapping turtle, not bad ... pressure cook it first, pull the meat off the bone then put it on the bbq grill in some bbq sauce:)

    Dang!!!!

Here in South Kakalacki the procedure is you would go out to it, when it was playing dead, pick it up by the tail, put it in a cage or a box, then feed it butter milk, and cornbread for a month, then crack it on the noggin with a 3 lbs. hammer, and stuff it with celery, onions, carrots and put it in the crock pot......

Dayum... I mean, a fresh kill posom is about as nasty as it gets... gotta sweeten it up a bit.

Wanna come shoot some of our yotes;) You can even have mine:D

Phillip, I was going to point out that a Vols fan would eat anything, you know, making a joke...but it appears I am in the minority on here, with the fact I do not eat possum:eek:

You know, you could take about 15 minutes to case-skin that sucker, stretch it over a $45 fleshing beam, scrape the fat off it with a $60 fleshing knife, stretch it over a $20 wooden stretcher, and invest $10 of your gas to drive it to a fur buyer and sell it for $1.

    :D

Phillip, Jeff...I agree that targets of oppertunity are very fun with a bow.

Phillip, you shoot 3-d yet...season ends tomorrow for me. I am taking the boomstick to S Alabama for a day with my brest friend, he heads back to afghan Tuesday. He smoked a very very nice 8pt last weekend and I saw a toad as well. I will do a write up about that hunt along with pictures when I get back. We have a very interesting area that some management has done wonders on.
