at the beginning of this afternoon's hunt. When I climbed out of the tree at dark it was 10 below. Saw more road hunting muzzle loaders then I did deer. Managed to stay fairly warm.

Tomorrow morning it is suppose to be pushing 25 below with a bit of a breeze. I am going hunting. I have hopefully picked out a good spot far from the road. Actually if any of the road hunters brave the cold... they should help push deer to me. Now watch I won't see a soul !! LOL

I am really pumped up to hunt this spot. We have shed hunted it in years past but never gotten to hunt it until now.

There has been some big bucks haunting this area and here are some of our finds.

    Last year's shed hunting...

    Note to self:
If you ever go hunting with Tim, make sure to buy a new wardrobe - or better yet, don't go in Dec! :D

Good luck guys...that is COLD! I'm not sure I could do subzero. We don't get that cold here, but its all relative I guess. Its gonna be in the teens tonight, a heat wave compared to you

Tim, awesome finds there bud...I wish I could find sheds around here, but I hardly ever do, so I don't hunt for them that much. I suck at shed hunting....or maybe its that spikes and forks are harder to find than 70" antlers :p

With those temps you got to have some deer starting to group up on prefered food sources. Good luck, we have those temps on the way this week and I may have to skip out of work a little early for some evening food source hunting.

When I hit the woods today It was 20 degree's above zero, felt like a fricking heat wave compared to the sub zero temps the last few days. One of my employee's called me tonight and said he needs off tomorrow so I'll be working Instead of hunting. :( Good luck you 2, I wanna hear updates from you both. :)

I got up at 5:30 AM. It was 20 below. The wind was way more then just a bit of a breeze . I give the mile walk in against the wind a very brief thought. Got cold just thinking about it !! I wussed out and went back to bed.

I've got a lot of time off from work starting Wednesday or Thursday. I'll give her hell then. Suppose to be a lot warmer.

Earliest here that we have ever found sheds was December 17th quite a few years ago. It was a nasty Nov and December with a lot of snow and cold temps. By the first of the year we found close to 30 sheds. That is very unusual for us. We found quite a few dead shedded bucks that didn't make the winter. 7 in one small area that ranged from 1 1/2 to 3 1/2. We quit counting winterkilled fawns after 150 and I'm pretty sure if we would have continued the number would have been well over 250. It was a brutal winter for the deer.

Your buck must have been run down pretty good ?? Congrats !!
