What's your Draw weight??? The only arrows I'd put a 85 gr tip one would be arrows shot out of a 45# bow. FOC is a major component of arrow flight, and the more you tinker with it, the more you'll be willing to bypass that extra 5 - 15fps in favor of GOOOD ARROW FLIGHT.

Read this article... http://www.huntersfriend.com/2007-Carbon-Arrows/arrow-selection-guide4.htm And then get back with us on that thought. I put a 125gr up front on my arrows, and it puts them where I want them much better than when I had a 100gr out front. Sure I lost 7-8fps, but I get better arrow flight, and more importantly, better arrow flight with a BH out front!!!!

I think small heads became en vogue during the years of the "speed wars", and those same people who got caught up in that didn't give a thought to the term FOC...

A lot of the fun of bowhunting and archery in general is trying new things and seeing what works for you. The only warning I would give is if you're not shooting a "fast bow" you might not get the penetration you want with lighter arrows. It takes a lot of speed to make up for weight loss. I'm shooting a 27.5" arrow with 85 gr. pts. They balance out at 16.5" forward of nock end. That's about as much weight forward as I want. I've always heard your balance point needs to be 10% forward of center. Mine is about 2.9" forward of center with the recommended length being 2.7" I'm shooting Gold tip exp. hunters with a total weight a little shy of 375 grs. out of my Bowtech Admiral with a Hostage pro at a draw length of 30". My arrows hit where my pin is, don't need much more accuracy than that. Besides arrows are too expensive to "Robin Hood" very many of them (LOL). I've shot this weight of arrows out of 4 different bows that were rated at 325 IBO and have gotten complete penetration on deer (lung shots) with all of them. Usually the arrow winds up stuck in the ground unless I bust ribs in and out.
