I 100% agree with this, and wanted the throw out another example of waste that does not involve teachers or cops. Can't post the pic b/c my phone camera sux, but back in the fall the City was painting crosswalk lines on a recently resurfaced street. I took a pic of the jacked up mess, but the quality is so poor you can't really tell - there were 8 guys there. 2 running the paint sprayer, and 6 guys standing on the street corner "supervising" - on a closed street - no safety concerns there. About a month later they dug up the street (that they had just resurfaced) to fix a water main leak THAT THEY ADMIT THEY KNEW WAS THERE BEFORE THEY PAID TO RESURFACE THE STREET!!!
Not getting a raise Is tough. I've been In that boat and am still In that boat. The milk plant that I haul milk to hasn't upped my hauling rate once In the 12 years I've been doing this. I've *****ed, complained, you name It. The way It's looking I'll never get one being they'll find someone else to haul the milk If I don't want to. There's plenty of ways to make extra cash though. Work part time for farmers (farmers are always looking for help). You could get your CDL and drive part time for trucking company's as well.
Indianapolis is looking for a QB... Play one game at Peyton's salary and retire... You can't be any worse than Jamarcus Russell.
This thread really hit home for me on Thursday. I had to print out all of my employees yearly compensation packages including their bonuses. Our company hit 90% of our target for their bonus payout. I had employees that were griping because it was less than in the past and we as managers had more taken out of our percentages because the company wanted them to stay at 90%. To top it off, most got 3-3.5% raises and some still griped. Looking back since I started in 2000 we have always received a 3-5% raise plus at least 80% of our targeted bonuses and we are lucky because we are continuing to grow even through a rough economy. I had a heart to heart with a couple of the employees and reminded them of people I know who haven't received raises, let alone a bonus at all. I also gladly advised them that they are welcome to drive down the road to our competitors call center where they can earn on average 10% less with a lower guaranteed Union raise and no bonuses. It is sad for me that I had to listen to this griping when so many people are receiving less. These people are making great money considering their education and work background and they fail to realize what they have.
