You guys have any tips for hunting in wind. Supposed to gust up to 35 on Friday. I always happens when brother comes to hunt. Either the kids get sick or the weather sucks Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Kind of funny but true. Find a low lying area where the wind won't be as bad. The deer don't like a ton of wind either and it'll likely be tough sledding, but yes it is November. Go hunt. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well last Saturday i was out hunting. I got to my stand around noon! I got up in my stand and i noticed that i bumped 3 does and thought my rest of the day was over but i was out of the wind and i felt like i had a good chance with another deer being so early. it was around 430 a doe came to the base of my tree and i was going to put an arrow into her but she kept looking down the hill. After a few minutes pass by this big 140 inch deer comes out of the thick cover and those deer must have been there all after noon and i never spooked those deer. needless to say after time passes the doe ended up in front of me and stood in one spot for 40 minutes and that buck never left her but always stood 20 yards back from her. She then walked in front of me and stood 10 yards aways from for another 10 minutes so i basically held me bow for an hour. since she walked in front me that buck kept coming and i thought i would have an easy pop shot at 10 yards however he smelt my scent because i decided to walk on that trail earlier in the day in which i normally dont do but i did that afternoon because i wanted to check my trail camera. He smelt my scent turned around quartering away and gave me a shot at 25 yards away in which in connected him with an arrow he did the death run and took off crazy fast and i actually thought he was gonna lay up in that woods. i gave it 30 minutes got down checked to see if i had blood in which i did on impact therefore i felt confident with that shot and i decided to let him law over night. The next morning i got dogs on the first spot of impact found the arrow and no blood on the arrow and the broadhead was bent to crap. but i had a constant blood trail 100 yards through the timber then the dog tracked it out in the hay field in which i had another 100 yards of a solid blood trail along with 5 or 6 pools of blood in which he problaby stood. The dog tracked him up the hill for another 100 yards in which the blood trail started to only do drops. He then crossed the fence with only a drop of blood and the dog tracked him another 100 yards without blood and we never found that deer . Therefore it makes me wonder if i hit the deer low somewhat in the leg but also confuses me that way he took off and the amount of blood that was left behind in the 200 yards makes no sense to me and why that deer was dead especiallly letting it go overnight as well. I'm planning on being out again this saturday im going to check my cams again with hope hes still alive on the camera and in hope of landing another arorow in him. Sorry for the bad news guys maybe this weekend ill knock down a doe too...
Wow. Hate that it went that way, but sounds like you did all you could do to find it. Shake it off and stick another one. Pretty sure we've all been in that situation, but it's November and you'll get another chance. Good luck this weekend! Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Damn man!! Happens to everyone and it's a part of hunting. Good job getting dogs out there to help with the track.
Shot a huge doe this evening. Can I enter this as 50 more points. Do you know if they are doing a trophy doe contest Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If you already put a doe on the card then it won’t count. It has to be a buck next. I think there is a trophy doe contest but it has to be weighed by a certain brand scale to count. I think it’s HME but don’t quote me on it Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

I might be wrong but I think you can enter a 2nd doe but won't be able to enter a buck if you got one Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Been hunting the past two days. This wind in Missouri is making it tough. I have only had spikes in front of me. Saw a nice 8, but he never presented a shot. Up its bow today during rifle season we will see what happens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I put a small buck down this morning on my last morning. I'll get pics and score up later when I get back into civilization
@heartstopper You can only enter one doe. First antlered buck killed can be scored and entered Bonus entry can be either antlered or doe, but both entries will be 50 points regardless. Doesn't matter the order you kill them. https://forums.bowhunting.com/index.php?threads/99763/ Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Awesome, Josh! Congrats. Just remember 2 unique pics with you and your bow. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
They're moving here pretty good this morning. My camera just went off on a small buck cruising about 5 minutes ago. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Score to come later. It's probably going to be 50. I'm going to unpack and enjoy a how shower after I unpack. This mountain is the hardest to hunt I've ever hunted so I'm happy with him.
Hell yeah buddy! Congrats and bask in the accomplishment. It's so hard for it to all come together especially when you're not in a fantasy land state with low numbers. I know how hard those mountain bucks are to even find much less close the deal on. What to go! Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Congrats on the buck. We had a successful hunting this weekend. My buddy got to shoot is first buck this evening. My brother shot a dandy of a buck. And I got a turkey and mature doe. Pic will come soon Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
