Getting real excited for Missouri. I’m going there for the week prior to rifle season, will hunt that weekend with a rifle, then my whole team is coming to Missouri and we are working with the A-10s. Eric- if you wanna be a target come on down to the lake.
Oh it was an absolute blast I walked over 25 miles in 3 days. Saw some beautiful country and cool animals. Learned a ton.
I'd love to! Love that old CAS airframe and who doesn't love to be shot at? Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
No idea what to expect in the morning. I'll keep you a holes posted regardless. You only get so many openers. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Under bow hunting talk I believe. https://forums.bowhunting.com/index.php?threads/99697/ Link might work Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I think that title displayed is a glitch on the mobile version. The thread was originally called Let's get the party started and later renamed. I don't think the mobile app kept up. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Here is my land (red box). White arrow is where I park/enter. Trying to figure out a way to hunt this in the mornings. It's basically impossible without blowing deer out of the fields, but it's supposed to be real hot this weekend and I've got some nice bucks coming from our beans on the south, through an opening on the blue star. The pink star is where my stand is now. I think that would work, but all of my big bucks have been on the south end of the property. Thinking of pulling my stand and moving it to the blue star to catch the big bucks moving back to bedding on the neighbors.. But then I most certainly will blow deer out of the fields. Trying to decide if I just don't hunt the mornings, or make a move and try to get lucky. Decisions decisions. Thoughts?
On a straight south wind that might work if you can use that strip as cover getting in to that opening. Seems awfully tricky. East wind might work if you aren't worried about hunting the deer that may be out in the neighbors field to the west. Get in early, maybe. Idk. If you don't need to take the risk then don't. If you have one patterned before the shift, maybe it's worth a shot. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Could you get permission for access from the south? That corner of the corn on you looks killer Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Unfortunately I can only access from my point on the map. I've gotten pictures of my number 1 down in that corner early in the summer and once last Saturday at night. It's supposed to be a straight S/SSE wind this weekend so I might just go for it at that opening. I don't necessarily have them patterned at that opening, but I got pictures of some big deer going through there 3-4 days in the last 1-2 weeks at gray light in the mornings. The row of trees leading up to where I want the stand is too thick to walk through so I'd just use the west side to get into my stand.
Would you be able to still hunt and hunt from the ground without jumping any deer? Maybe ghillie suit hunt? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nothing moved by me. Nice evening and feels great to get out with the bow again. The real hunting starts later. I'm going to try and buzz out to my buddy's farm Saturday. High odds of killing a doe. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Since elk is over, I started practicing from my saddle just because it’s so different. I won’t be hunting deer til November, but I do think it helps. I will go out bear hunting off and on over the next two months I will probably bring a rifle for some and if I want to stand hunt will bring my bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
41 degrees with 0-5mph ESE winds on Saturday morning for our opener. Either stand location I posted earlier will work perfectly. Just need to decide which one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It doesn’t matter what stand you choose. They will always be at the other one. Haha Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I can't tell you how many times I've planned a hunt and worried about which stand to sit only to get there and the weather lied and the wind is all wrong. Ha! I really don't like morning hunts. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
