this is a buck I started hunting as a 4.5 yr old in the fall of 06. I have collected many pictures of him over the years. I have laid eyes on him maybe 7 or 8 times. Every single time has been between the 5th -10th of November. Last year I hunted this buck exclusively. I finally got him in bow range and put what I thought was a lethal shot on him. Obviously I never found him and was blown away with surprise when he showed up at a scrape this week. I have learned more about mature buck hunting from this deer than anywhere else in the 18 yrs I have bow hunted. He has never been anywhere close to a booner but that hasn't stopped him from becoming my obsession over the last couple years. One things for sure, he has never been on a diet.

Wow he's a pig. Nothing like taking a deer with history. Good luck with him this fall.

The buck was at 25 yds, which I knew, I put the 30 yd pin on him and hit about 4" high of what would of been perfect. My stand was 22' to the platform so I thought the angle would take out at least one lung. Unfortunately he was on the river bank when I shot and jumped in as soon as he was hit. As a result I never found the arrow.I left him be overnight just to be safe, but the blood trail quickly ran dry the next day. I literally searched for this buck for weeks,Walking miles, floating up and down the river, all the while just positive he was dead somewhere.
The size of this buck amazes me every time I see him and I'm not at all surprised that I never see any other mature bucks anywhere near his area.

Right on, I always have felt the same thing, an old buck can teach you more about hunting than anything else, especially when you start trying to target just him! love that buck your onto, hes a stud! Good luck!

That's pretty damn cool there hillrunner!!! I couldn't Imagine what a person could learn from a buck seeing him that many years In a row, use that knowledge to your advantage after this guy Is no longer around. Best of luck with him and any other bucks!!
