The nice thing about 3D targets on a 3D shoot (archery contest) is that you get a good opportunity to deal with the issue of aiming point. Its not just a pretty round target on a bale anymore. Now it is a real looking creature with an anatomy. Do you go for the heart and risk a low miss? Or do you aim center chest for the classic lung lobe hit? Plus you get a chance to see what a gut shot would look like if your hit is too far back. Rather than waste a $15 arrow (or risk losing it) on a long shot over 50 yards, on a 3D course I will sometimes get closer, within a more likely range (with a higher probability of a lung hit) before shooting. Same issues as in real life. A long shot is always going to be a percentage shot, not a guaranteed kill.
Nice shot Wesley ! But why did you leave your bow there and walk to the clubhouse only to have to walk back and get your bow ??
Thank You sir. Maybe with the help of some of you spray, it will be on a deer this winter, just not at 60 yds.
