The title says it all. Last night was the first night that me and my brother got out and drove around to do some pre-season scouting. This first video shows a STUD young buck (either a 1 or 2 year old) with 7 points and a split brow tine. He's got the non-typical genes from the area without a doubt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jKfx5PE7Hw This 2nd video shows two bucks. Both look to be at least 3, with the one having ALOT more growth then the other. The big one already has some killer brow tines and crazy mass. He also seems to have an injury on his right side (Antlers look normal though). He seems to fit the clean 8 point mold that the area is known for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS3COgczbE8 Altogether we saw probably 8-9 bucks. We filemd another one that was around 500 yards out that was passed the ears, but the video isnt up to par. We also saw a bunch of 1 year old bucks getting their first set of antlers. It was a good first night. Some still pics:
I think your being too lenient on the ages, I would bump them up a year, just look at the lengths of their bodies!!! Great stuff dude...
I was just giving them a minimum, sometimes its hard to tell in the summer. What would you put that 7 point as?
The buck pictured above is an OLDIE.. Wow! Good gosh man.. YOU've got some STUD whitetail around you.
Me and my brother drove by the spot again today (its actually just a few hundred feet from my cousins house), and the 2 bucks were out again today, We have about a 1% chance of getting to hunt these bucks, but its cool to see big whitetails any chance you get. We'll be watching these 2 the rest of the summer. Enjoy: Velvet Bucks 6/20/09 Velvet Bucks And Summer Scouting Footage
The big brow tine buck looks very mature IMO. Hopefully you can show us some more picks of him in a couple months to see how much bigger he will get.
I would have to age those deer at least 2 or 3 years. If they make it another season they are going to blow up into absolute monster bucks.
