I don't like broadhead tuning either.... I'd shoot a small cut mechanical. My suggestion would be a 2 blade 1.5 inch cut dead ringer rampage. It penetrates very good for a mechanical, extremely strong and accurate too. From experience its a much better head than a rage, from the flight, to strength, to no deflections, and better penetration. I think you will be fine as far as penetration goes at 60 yards, as far as taking an animal with your setup, but you probably won't get alot of pass throughs unless your broadhead passes between the ribs at this distance and a lot can go wrong. I personal wouldn't take a shot that far. Sent from my ALCATEL A845L using Tapatalk
Very good program, can even print sight tapes with it..and find exact match spine arrows for your spec of bow on your setup. They have a free trial check it out or google it, plenty of hunters and professionals use it. and if you chrono it will match with ot2 Sorry man, you've been severely misinformed about bows if you didn't know this. Trying to TEACH you something, pay attention.
Ok, I'm just going to lay this out there. Taking a 60 yard shot is stupid in 90% of hunting situations. It doesn't matter what bow you are using or what you are pulling or what your draw length is. What I'm talking about is the amount of time it takes an arrow to travel 60 yards. I'm pretty good with my bow, and I can typically groups about about 3 inches at 60 yards. That's on a stationary target and it doesn't take into account a moving target. Those of us who have some real hunting experience know that deer do not typically stand still and they have absolutely amazing reflexes. Sound travels at about 3 times faster than your arrow. meaning the deer will hear the shot before the arrow gets there. This triggers the reflex to drop most of the time. Sometimes they drop straight down, sometimes they turn, sometimes the drop and turn, sometimes they don't move at all. You have no way of knowing how they are going to react. My point is, a 60 yard shot is not really an ethical shot because there are just way too many variables that you cannot control. My suggestion is to become a better hunter so you don't have to even consider flinging an arrow 60 yards. Just my opinion, do what you want but don't come on here and post a "made a bad hit on a deer" thread because you will get roasted.
only way I can answer is that if your bow is equipped with a drop away rest. id use a fixed blade broadhead and tune the head. if its like a whiskerbiscut, mechanicals are best for now .
What is the reason behind this? I am genuinely asking a curious question here as I have never heard this before.
Help me put 2 and 2 together.. not understanding your post... A few fps (if that) using a dropaway over a whisker reason means people should use mechanical? explain this one..
Must be that new common core math being used there. Because nothing in his statement adds up as far as I can see.
