If you put it in the right spot it surely will. Todays modern compounds are so much more efficient, it doesn't take near the poundage it used to. Christine does it every year with less I believe.
Most states set the minimum weight at 40lbs. So if most DNRs have the confidence that 40lbs. could do it then you should be confident that 50lbs could do it. Just be confident in your shooting as well.
You'd be perfectly fine. 50 lbs is plenty. Last year I used 43 lbs. This year I'm using 41 lbs. The need for accurate yardage estimation is important with a slower arrow. Try to go with arrows that are on the heavy side. With lower poundage, momentum becomes more important than KE.
I had a complete pass through with 50lbs, first deer I ever shot. I was using a Golden Eagle Sparrowhawk II (hence my screenname lol )
In keeping with everyone else's response's yes 50 lbs is more than enough.I got a pass through on a black bear four seasons ago at 55 lbs as I was coming back from a shoulder injury.
50# is more than enough. Several years ago my son killed his first pulling just a little over 35#. The poundage wasn't quite legal, but he made a good shot. He had a complete pass through. With a 50# or less bow, I wouldn't use expandables. Stick with fixed broadheads.
