Tomorrow will be the 5 years since the Shooting on Tech Campus. There are many stories of what happened and it still unbelievable to me that something happened here like that, but it actually did.

That morning I had just dropped my wife off to work on Virginia Tech campus. Nothing seemed different, nothing seemed out of place. It all seemed normal to me. I was planing on going to the range that morning. When my wife called me and told me that her secretary was informed that a domestic violence situation had taken place on campus with 2 men fighting over a woman and that one of the men drew a knife on the other man and he promptly ran away. And was probably near Roanoke or near N.Carolina. I told her to keep her office door locked until they say they have the guy arrest

That's was the story told to her and she try to follow it up by calling campus police. Campus police told her the situation was under control. About 20 minutes after getting home, a friend of mine from Memphis Tn. radio station WDIA. Called me and asked me what was going on up there. I asked him what do you mean? He said somebody just got killed on college campus in Blacksburg. I told him man stop eff-ing around because it's not funny and I just left the campus.

He said turn on your TV to CNN News and that's how I found out. I ran out to my car and my cell phone was ringing, It was my wife calling me frantically telling someone was trying to kill students on the campus. I told her to lock your door. She told me that she had did so her and several staff members had huddled into her office area locked the door and pushed furniture up against the door.

Then you could hear the sounds of gun fire in the background it sound like it was right in her office. She then said someone is trying to open her door and they wanted to open the door because students were still in the building. Screaming for help and she could see students jumping from windows.

I told my wife I will park at the Barber Shop parking lot and I'll be there in 5 minutes. By the time I got there the campus was on lock down. She was able to leave about 2 hours after that call.

I had a friend that taught over on the Campus and he told me afterward that he was informed early that day that someone was stabbed someone and they were near death on campus. While dropping his young child off at day care near the college.

He said he went to his classroom and wrote classes were cancelled today due to unforeseen campus emergency and stuck it on his door. He said no sooner than he put that note on the doors he tried leaving the building and found one set of doors to be chained. So he went out another way and soon as he got to his car he seen students jumping from windows.

He said he first thought it was kids fooling around then when he seen all the students jumping from windows he knew all hell had broke loose.

My personal reason why they didn't put the college on lock down is the previous year an prison inmate escaped the hospital killing 1 guard about 1 mile from the school were he eventually killed a VHP officer on the college grounds. This was on the first day of classes. Students wanted to go to classes, but couldn't because a killer was on campus.

So the school officials told students they had to make up that day. Students threaten if they had to make up that day they would sue. So the Campus police and administrators of the college collapsed under pressure of a law suit.

Could it be just that simple? I think so, and this city really haven't been the same.

Definitely a sad day it was. I was at work when the news broke...won't ever forget it.

One wouldn't think all of this would happen to a school in the middle of no where. Decapitations, shootings, etc. Very odd.
