Ok, my neighbor and I started this discussion last night about how close/far away you should park your atv from your treestand. I usually walk in the last 200 yards, he parks his practically under his stand. How many people here think it really matters?

This year...nothing yet, but it's been hot and as bad as most of us want it, sitting in a stand for more than an hour of so sucks at 90+ degrees. Season just started on the 12th so...we'll see.

I'll be walking about a mile to my spot today. It was a little over a mile to a different spot the other day. Other than when I walk to a spot behind my house (not that often) I would say the closest spot I walk to is about 800 yds. Although I have never used an ATV I don't see how riding one wouldn't leave a bunch of motor vehicle odor all over you. I wouldn't ride one any distance before getting in my stand.

Walking in, regardless of distance, has worked for me so far. Besides, even if I owned an atv, they aren't allowed on public land LOL :D .

I bring a 4 wheeler w/ me when I go hunting but ONLY use it to drag a deer out. I don't like taking the chance of getting the atv odor on me. Plus deer aren't used to 4 wheelers on my farms, so I'm pretty sure the sound of one would alert them.

I don't have a four wheeler but i don't think that it will make to mch of a difference to have it about 200 yards away because must of are setups are within 300 yards of a road.

I walk a good distance to all my stands...anywhere from 300-1000 yards.
