I got a delivery today from 4th Arrow. Wahoo.

This is what was inside the box.

Here is the base as it comes in the box. They even provide a wrench to assemble it.

    This is everything put together.

I like that you can break the shoulder down into two pieces. That makes it easier to pack than the Muddy camera arm. I am a little concerned about the tool used to tighten the shoulder but time will tell if that is a valid concern or not.

I did try to put the Muddy arm in the 4th Arrow base but it is a little larger and would not fit. Gonna spend some time with it and then post some more feedback later.

Very nice. Curious to see how it goes. What was the cost by the way?

I got the stiff arm which is like $159 it does not come with the fluid head that I already had. I have the Muddy Outfitter and the base is a little cumbersome to pack. This packs up very nicely.

I like it. What's your camera setup? Just curious. I've been considering upgrading from my Muddy Arm to the 4th Arm Pro, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I've been on the fence about trying one of these.

What type of head do you have? It looks like there are controls for rec, zoom, etc. so you don't have to use actual camera controls. Are the controls a separate attachment or did they come with the head you have? I know it's separate from the arm so that's mostly what I'm curious about. The prices for the camera arm seem pretty reasonable.

From the looks of it, it looks like the fluid head I run...A Manfrotto 128RC, but I could be wrong. As far as the VariZoom goes, it is a great control to have and attach to your pan handle in order to power on/focus/zoom if you camera has a LANC Input.

Hardwoods913 is right! Its a Manfrotto 128RC. The controls are indeed separate and is a Stealthzoom by Variazoom. I can use it to power on the camera, zoom, focus and toggle recording as long as it has a LANC connection. Helps a lot to minimize motion, especially when the zoom is in one location and the focus is in another and record yet another.

As a side note the arm itself is the same length as the Muddy Outfitter arm.

Thanks Copperhead. Everything was looking reasonably priced until I started looking at the Varizoom controllers. I'll probably have to wait on that for a little while but will put it on my wish list. Thanks again for the info!

If I ever bite the bullet and decide to take my gear into the field, this is the head I would be getting hands down. Have fun with it!
