If you have a child in this age range and are looking for something for them to do to get some exercise, have fun and learn some teamwork skills ( well ok maybe not so much learning team sports yet :d ) then you should get them signed up for T ball. We signed our 4yo son up this year. He has had about 5-6 official practices and his first game last Sat. That game was a blast  It was hilarious to see the kids get set in their positions and once the batter hits the ball they ALL run to the ball and pile up on it :d :d Some kid comes up from the pile and throws the ball somewhere towards first base hoping someone is still left there to try and catch it. They ALL love to hit, some forget to run and most hate the helmet required to hit and run the bases. A few parents have to get out in the infield to keep the kids from building dirt piles too high for the base runners to jump over, covering up the bases with dirt so the runners can't find the bases, blocking the bases so the runners can't get to the bases, pushing the runners off the base because they are "protecting the base" and finally bringing them back from the nearest shade tree. I think my son likes it so far but last week's game at 1:00 pm with temps at 90-91 degrees was not alot of fun for most. The league has 30 teams with 12 kids (4 years old only, boys and girls) on each team which I think is INCREDIBLE. I would recommend anyone going to a game if you have a relative playing or even a friend's child playing. It's just fun!!!

It is a blast. I actually coach for my 5 and 8 year olds. I have coaced since my daughter was 6. So this is my third year. And we have a daughter that is 2...so I will be coaching for quite some time to come!!

We don't have near the structure though. We just throw them out there in the field and they then pile on each other. We don't make them play positions...I for one don't have that much patience!!

We don't make the kids wear a helmet while batting though. In actuality, the kids in the field get hit with the ball a heck of a lot more then the batter. And the pitcher....me...I am always dodging the ball. We pitch 5 balls then they get the T if they have not hit it.

I'm managing 5 & 6 year-old tee-ball. After a few practices start pitching to them. You'll be amazed at the results and the power that comes from the pitched ball vs T-ball. Stand 12-15 ft and toss underhanded pitches in the strike zone.

Our 1st game was last Saturday also..and every Saturday through June 20th.

It sure is fun, my son Dom is in 7th grade and has played ball since the t-ball league. It was too much fun watching the youngsters learn. I've been helping coach his teams for the past 4 years and now that he's in the majors, 7th, 8th and 9th grade league, my arm is killing me!

You are exactly right. After I had been working with him for a couple of weeks on the T before the season started I figured I would try a couple of pitches just to see what would happen. Well after a few pitches he caught one solid and nearly took my head off:d I was really surprised. He can hit ok by pitch IF I can get my pitch timed for HIS swing...problem lies more in the pitcher I think :deer:

I like how some of the kids barely have the ability to swing the bat...so as the pitcher you have to hit the bat as they swing it...otherwise they would never hit it. It becomes quite a challenge sometimes. But luckily, this year I have a good group of kids that actually know how to hit.
