Well I am back from 3.5 days spent roaming Ohio public land. A little less than stellar results. 33 hours on stand-17 deer, 6 bucks. 1 possible shooter. The biggest buck I had a shot at was a gnarly racked 110" , had shots at almost all the does and 2 small bucks. Random driving to my hunting spot or between spots-2 REALLY big bucks, and about 5 really nice bucks, plus countless small bucks and does that I had to dodge. Here is a pic of a gorgeous 8 pt with a hot doe at 11:30 am This picture was taken on private land about a 1/4 mile from the public land border. A few things I noted 1. I need to hunt squirrels more 2. PA does NOT have the market cornered on clueless hunters. 3. Why does no one enter the woods in the dark? 4. For the 1st time EVER, all this stand time did not produce back pain for me. 5. I REALLY need to fix the heater in my camper. 6. Don't leave your backpack at the base of your tree. (too lazy to climb back down & get it)
How did you avoid the back pain? My back always starts acting up on hunts like that, but I am thinking myself it is more from carrying the climber in and out? What did you do different? I just returned from a week long trip myself in Ohio, as you see I didnt post a story because really I have nothing to tell! It was a loooongg week of basically nothin for me!
The only thing I can think of is that over the summer I started incorporating yoga into my exercise regime and I think it helped out my core & back strength to the point that it really helped during long sits. Otherwise, nothing different. Same stand, same everything else.
It looks like you had fun!!! Great pictures also, I have stopped lifting and I do P90X, I have never felt better. I can stand all day in stand with 0 pain!! It has yoga also!!
