I was wondering how important is the 3rd axis tuning for a sight while tree stand hunting? As of now i am fixed on the Trophy ridge react sight, which doesn't have 3rd axis adjust. Do some of you guys change your sights when tree stand hunting? Do you guys have a sight just for treestand hunting with 2nd and 3rd axis adjustment?

Depends on your comfort level shooting at longer distances and how extreme of an angle you might possibly face. If your looking at taking a 20 yard chip shot on flat ground from a stand at 15', it's not terribly important. If you could see yourself taking a 40+ yard shot on uneven terrain causing a 45+ degree angle then it can matter enough to be the difference between wounding a deer and punching your tag.

When I say "quite a bit", a 3rd axis adjustment of say half a bubble at 40 yards on a better than 45 degree angle can easily cause your arrow to stray a couple of inches.

I agree, for the most part for a normal whitetail hunter taking shots from a 15'-20' high stand at short yardages "30yds max" then 3rd axis doesn't play into it a ton..Yeah it might move the arrow an inch or two but normally not enough to really matter if your shooting in the pump station on a deer to begin with....Now if the shots are longer and the angles steeper 3rd axis matters a ton.
For a person who hunts the mountains out west I think it's crazy not to have a quality sight with 3rd axis adjustments...If your 3rd axis is way off at a steep angle on a long shot it can move the arrow by feet, not inches. For my long range shooting the best things I've bought were sights with 3rd axis adjustments & a Hamskea 3rd axis level.

I figure why do some thing half assed ...it not like it's an major ordeal to set the third axis on a sight that allows it...so just do it and it's done ..it sure doesn't hurt anything

^ Absolutely! After switching from my HHA to a Spot Hogg Hogg It I was not too sure of the 3rd axis adjustments and was confused by the directions, never had a sight that allowed for this. So I went to my local shop to find out more and for some help and I'm glad I did. Like Trial said now its done and there is nothing to worry about now.
