I am going to get a Bersa Thunder .380. For the most part it will be for Britney so she can shoot it and carry it while hunting. I would also carry it for work instead of the glock just for concealing it easier and it wouldn't get in the way for working on equipment or the many other things I do on the farm.

I am really leaning to the CC model for my use since it is more streamlined. With Britney in mind though would I be better to get the regular model with the higher/bigger sights ?? Bottom line... which would be more shooter friendly ?? Britney has shot a .22 revolver and does quite well.

Shooting small guns accurately is a challenge to begin with. Add small sights and its damn near impossible.

Is the thunder double or single action?

First shot is double... after that it goes to a single stage as the hammer is always cocked back unless you let it down.

So it has a decocker? I know shooting my little sisters lcp is a real challenge between the size the lack of sights and the DAO trigger.

That's a great feature. I wish my lc9 had one. DAO is tough. But makes a great carry gun.

Anyway to answer your question. I think in the long run the advantage of better sights will outweigh the advantage if of a more streamlined design.

I would go with the 9mm instead for the fact that they run the same size - the ammo is generally cheaper and generally better performance/power as well....other than that I have the similiar Firestorm mini in 9mm and had my Mom out shooting it last spring with no problems and she is over 60yrs and weighs 115 lbs maybe....just my 2 cents worth

I have a crimson trace handgrip on my thunder .380. I got it with that so my wife would not have to think about aiming so much as put the dot where she wanted the bullet to go. It cost a bit more with that handgrip but when you consider what is was for.....I agree though with the better sighting mechanism whatever it is. A gun isn't as good as it can be if there is difficulty aiming, especially under pressure.

I just picked up a Sig p238 the other day in 380. It comes out of the box with really good tritium night sights, and is surprisingly accurate too. With Winchester PDX1 loads it shoots about 2" groups at 10 yards. It is a bit heavier though than some of the polymer pocket pistols though. I've got about 120 rounds through it now and the trigger has improved quite a bit, it now loads a bit with about a 1/4" of travel and then hits a wall that breaks cleanly at around 5lbs.

I just picked up a Kahr CM9 about a month ago. I like having 9mm in a pocket sized pistol. So far I have been very happy with it. It die have a longggg but very smooth DAO trigger and it takes so practice to shoot this type of gun accurately. Especially when your used to the shorter trigger on bigger polymer guns.

The Bersa .380 Thunder CC is my primary carry piece... absolutely love it.

I tinker with other pistols but always go back to my CC Bersa.

I have a Bersa .380 Thunder as well but we are the only state you can't carry concealed legally:( It is a decent gun and easy to conceal, accuracy is not all that bad either considering it is a smaller gun.
