Two years ago we started running cameras regularly on a property I have access to. It is 320 acres and the landowner lets me hunt for free and helps with any food plots or feeders I want to put in and is truly a great guy. Well two years ago we had about 7 to 10 different bucks on camera. One was just a run of the mill 2 1/2 year old 8 point. Then in January 2012 we got pictures of a basic 115" 3 1/2 year old 8 point. I noticed3 1' that it had the same frame as the 8 point from the year before. Then this year we had a very nice 10 point show up on camera. I noticed he had a similar frame as the 8 point from the two previous years and it was him. The jump from 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 is pretty incredible and am excited to see what he grows into next year as he made it through rifle season I know. He was only on our property from Nov. 1 to essentially Dec. 1. Another gentleman had him on camera a mile and a half from our property in early October. The range these deer can travel and what they can grow into from one year to another with maturity is incredible to me sometimes. 2 1/2 3 1/2 4 1/2
Wow. Doesn't look like he grew much if anything from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2. Then he hit 4 1/2 and blew up! Nice!
What a HOG! So... you gonna' shoot if he comes close enough, or are you gonna' let him walk to see what he'll grow to the following year??? hehe
It'll be an awesome harvest with all that history compiled. Have you encountered him from the tree yet?
Not that I am fully aware of. He was there one evening at last light and the next evening I was in stand and just after last light I spooked a buck getting down and I think it was maybe him. But that's mostly speculation. He came in during daylight quite often.
Great looking buck. It's great to have such a history with an animal. Hope you catch up with him in the future. Blessings........Pastorjim
