    The saga of Skittles...

Here's a prime example of what it seems is both my curse and education in life.. a whitetail buck I call Skittles that I've been viewing from the tree and camera for 3 years now.. (pay no attention to dates)

Age 2.. the youngin' appears.. and I thought he'd possibly be something some day.

Age 3.. uggh.. another poor genetic buck.. what's new

Age 4.. look at his impressive body size.. although its a blurry pic I know its him.. still no rack and my curse lives on.

I think if he lives to age 11 and a half.. he may finally become a shooter.

    I give up.

If it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all.
Your luck will change hopefully sooner rather then later!

Sooner then later you will be wrapping your hands around a rack of a beast. Looking forward to that day !! You've shot some very good bucks.

    Hey, what about me?

I've decided that I'm shooting this buck if he walks by me when we're hunting this spot. Rack or no rack, he's going down. It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it. :fro:

Man that's brutal.. If you do shoot him cape him out, and mount a huge set of sheds on him.

Good luck chasing him Mike! I prefer a good story (years of chasing)... anyways.

    Get him down!

Thats a trophy for around here. I thought a deer of that age was a trophy no matter what his rack size is?

I wasn't looking for sympathy gentlemen.. really just wanted to know if there is another hunter out there who see's this as often as I do... as I see it every year.. almost continuously.

Is it just me.. or are there more of us?

And Fatsbucket.. who said anything about him not being a trophy.. he absolutely is.. but I have a mess of 4 year old or greater bucks that don't meet 115".. this guy is getting a pass by me this year.

Justin.. shoot away my friend.. shoot away.

I've included another pic of this monster bodied bog buck.. he's gotta be pushing 225+ on the hoof. He's seen here working the licking branch quite vigorously.

I've seen one 4.5 yo old in 15 years of bowhunting, and he was bigger then Skittles. So I guess I can say I have never seen a 4.5 yo that small. Must just be you.

Your not alone Mike. I'm sick of passing 4.5 year olds myself through out the years that have these **** genes. I've got two 4.5 year olds on my property right now. One will score In that 110 to 115 Inch range and the other will go In that 120 Inch range. Come late season I'm shooting. No more nice guy here.
