I had the encounter of a lifetime. We all know what happened with that buck. What it taught me, as i sat helplessly in that free filming him chase does, is that no matter what, you always have a chance, you just simply have to be in the woods. This stand wasn't hung for watching 200" bucks, it was a observation stand on the edge of an alfalfa field. It wasn't even particularly cold that day (temps in 50's), but nonetheless, he showed himself. As the rut and the "good hunting" approaches, just remember how lucky we are to be in the woods, in the presence of these wonderful creatures. Good luck yall!!!
Good reminder Caleb. Obviously that animal had a profound effect on your life as a deer hunter. Although you were not the one to take him be thankful that a member of your family did and that you got to experience this great animal. Blessings......Pastorjim

Well I was just trying to decide to hunt tomorrow or wait till next week and give a lil more time for the rut to come in and the temps to drop here in il...but you pretty much just fixed my dilemma...I am in total agreement w ya...you can't kill them if you're not in the woods. So..im gonna be in the woods in the morning for sure. Thanks for the great reminder.!!!! Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
If you had shot that deer, it would quite possibly be the greatest "amateur" hunting video of all time. Trim some shooting lanes to your left.
Wow that's a good story. I'm glad it ended with your own family. I'm typing this as I'm sitting in the stand right now. I don't think anywhere I would rather be right now.
thanks for the link!! great story of a great buck!! got me pumped to get out there tomorrow morning!!
Still amazed by this whole story Caleb. The history you guys had with this buck before your brother shot him is incredible.
