Not only did Russsia warn us about the older brother, but so did Saudi Arabia. In fact, they said they gathered intel that showed the older brother planned to use an explosive device on US soil.......

The thought that we were warned about this kid on probably more than one occasion and did nothing to stop him severely upsets me. Definitely a sign of weakness. Eventually it has to get to a point when the government realizes that the "politically correct" approach to handling these sort of issues and threats, just isn't gonna cut it. Unfortunately I have a feeling that things will have to get a lot worse before that happens.

We did not get soft...thats absurd.

When you get 400 terrorist threats a day...things slip through cracks. Things get overlooked.

We went 11 years without a major incident on US soil...

How about we spend 98 trillion dollars on stopping every crime in America before it happens...thats logical.

All these theories are coming from major news network sources anyways...the average layperson has no idea whats really happening. And probably shouldnt.

Good points... sometimes we forget to say "Thank You" for the 1000s of bad things that never happen.

It's a fine line living in a free country and at the same time wanting the gov't to nose around in people's business.

I don't expect my government to prevent such events from happening.

I just wish they wouldn't harbor these animals once caught, and wouldn't enact laws that make it all the easier for said animals to kill innocent people.

I don't expect them to stop all of them either but when the government is warned about certain individuals, seems like they should be able to stop those.

Of course , we can't believe the news media reports so who knows how much info they really recieved.

Our goverment is to busy trying to take our rights away to worry about stopping anything. I will say this this tho its hard to stop or check on every threat against the U.S. When I was overseas gurading American embassies we had people come in probably once a week saying they had info on attacks. Most of the time it was bs but it takes awhile to check up on things. The best one was some guy tried to bring a fake pistol inside the embassy to prove how bad U.S. security was. Needless to say he didn't make it far and the French military that helped with security outside the gates put a pretty good beat down on him, all within 20 feet of me standing there on duty.

As far as us being soft as a country its not so much that as it is we are a soft target. Every time something is brought up all you hear is people say "that'll never happen here" and they'd rather try to prevent things by coming up with more laws, which the people doin these things don't follow, instead of actually doin the things that will prevent attacks from happening. Yea its very true we probably kill each other more as s society than most countries. But you go to other countries, Europe in particular, and there's well armed military or police everywhere. We always called it show of force in USMC. And sometimes thats what it takes, I've been to 13 countries and every one by the time you go out of airport you saw the equivalent of many police forces in the states, and it stsyed thst way all over major cities. Should we have that here, idk but people wanna freak out whenever something happens in this ****ry and fee unsafe but when u suggest stiffening security everyone says "well I don't want that." On another side of it though I can see why we'd be looked at as weak, look at how split we were as a country when Obama got elected again. How many states wanted to succeed and get away from goverment control. Or how messed our ecomony is. Yea I'm sure someone on the outside looking in does perceive us as a weak divided country after last November.

Holy crap started ramblin there a little. Hope makes sense ha

You guys are forgetting something HUGE here....

Obama, the Liberals/Conservatives, and Congress are not hunting terrorists....they just talk about it and take credit.

Policeman. Soldiers. Agents. These are the men doing the prevention. And i think they are doing a fine job.

    Overly simplistic view.
The policy in the broadest sense starts at the administration. Just a example, take a look at the trends for student visas given to students from country's known to support and harbor terrorists. Go back and look at the the numbers from the last 5 years and see how things has loosened up.
The tone is also set by the administration, the president refuses to use terminology that defines the root threat. When was the last time you heard the president use the term Islamist? Muslim extremist? Islamic Jihadist?

These are just two of many examples of how the administration sets the tone for policy. Policy that in many cases hamstrings the efforts of the people on the frontlines in the prevention of terrorist acts.

Thats a political talk bull**** finger pointing answer. Boots on the ground. That is what i find important. 3 years from now, policies and terminology will change. Then again 4 years later...repeat...repeat. The boots on the ground make the differance by adapting to what is thrown at them.

    Ill end with that.
