That's right!! Almost time to get out there with the bow! Can't wait! Initially I thought it'd be cool to try out, I'd get 2 whole months of hunting at the very least. BUT now that I've been practicing more ways of getting closer and being precise with my new bow, I actually prefer bow hunting! I can't believe I didn't see it for what it was sooner! So in 3 days I'll be going out after work for 3 1/2 hours or so. I have tracked and gotten to understand the herd of deer I am hunting. I have found where most hunters will enter and even found a few stands. With all this in mind I have found the ideal place to be where the hunting pressure is so minimal it puts the odds in my favor 10 fold. Even when the other hunters come in, I trust the deer will be pushed to me. It seems everyone hikes in at the same 2 or 3 trails. I have found the best approach is to canoe up the river and enter in at the top corner of the property. Putting over 1/2 a mile between myself and the furthest out stand i've found. I know where the acorn drop is at its prime. I've found 2 nice rub lines and several areas of large scrapes. I don't have trailcam pics to prove anything is out there but I've seen all the evidence I need. Unfortunately I didn't recieve a doe permit this year. So all I have it 2 anterled tags. I'll be praying hard these next few days for my first buck! Anyone else hunting their first bow season this year?
Good luck !!! I'll be out there with you come monday! Sounds like you've got that land pretty well staked out! I think our season starts the latest out of everyone else's! Its about time opening day arrives!
