Well, its me again with yet another question! I wanted to get a sense of other bowhunters preference when it comes to broadheads. The pros and cons of 3blades vs 4blades vs mechanical. Personally I shoot 85 grain triton wac'em broadheads, they make quite a mess and fly exactly like my field tips. I also have a fishing lure box full of 90 grain 4 bladed muzzy's and muzzy mx-4s, Obviously since there are four blades, my muzzies should create bigger/better holes, but they dont fly like my field tips, I also have one rage mechanical broadhead, but i never have trusted mechanicals over fixed blades. I figure if the indians killed deer with little stone points then anything we have today should do the job. Thanks for the feedback!
you are correct about broad heads nowadays they should all kill deer with correct shot placement. I think it all boils down to what you want to use and how you feel about the broadhead. I personally have never used a 4 blade, but I have had success with plenty of three blade mechanicals and fixed blade broad heads. my favorite broad heads to date are the ramcats (hybrid fixed blade) and the mini blasters (mechanical)
If I used fixed heads I would use the 4 blade slick tricks, they fly great and work well, Mechanicals work people tend to not use a heavy arrow and I feel it is very important when using mechanicals
The fixed blade companies put a lot of doubt in hunters heads about mechanicals because they are selling fixed blades. If people don't do better with mechanical items why do they shoot compound bows vs long bows. The mechanical advantage is huge if used properly. I've yet to see a Muzzy fly better or make a hole like a Grim Reaper 1 3/8 razor tip. JMO
