I'm not, but i have to feel comfortable with this new bow. I'm not going to take something in the woods that i don't feel confident in. I'm just getting older... lol

My confidence is solidified when I shoot various ranges from my tree stand. Nothing like it.

Got my last food plots in on Friday. I was worried about not getting enough moisture --- but mother nature really came through. From Friday eve to Sunday we got about .25 inches... with mist and fog. I'm sure that will be enough to get it done.

Headed to Pepin tomorrow to hang stands and check cams. Starting to develop the hit list for the year. I gotta get it done in MN this year. #NoExcuses

Will your food plot construction/planting be on an upcoming episode of BHOD?

Just had a student begin working with me yesterday. It is a 12 week residency program so weekday hunting is going to very limited. A co-worker was supposed to oversee the student 3 days a week, but she just turned in her notice. I am the only other person that can instruct her so that blows... I'm thinking my minimum requirement for a hit list buck just got much smaller! Either way, Oct 1 can't get here soon enough.

Wife just gave me the "go ahead" to get a new release. Problem is though which one. I like trying stuff out before buying, and I can't find a dealer that carries anything in stock. I've been in contact with Stan's Rep, but he doesn't seem to want to meet up. I understand I'm just one person but still, I'm not asking him to come to my house. I can meet him wherever he chooses. So I called Stan again to see if they would take my card and send me 4 releases that I want to try. Then charge me for the one I keep. No go because they don't take back opened packages, she said. Then asked why my shop wouldn't sell me one. "Face meet Palm". For the same reason you wont send me a release. You won't take back open packages and they don't won't that overhead sitting on their shelves. Somebody needs to work on their marketing. Anyways rant over. I'm gonna ask around and see who has one and what size ring they wear to compare to my hands. I don't know still bugs me

I'll be hanging a stand on my private land and pry doing some trimming out Sunday. Will pull cards and maybe move cameras for the last time before I go out there to hunt. We hang stands on public land next week. One month from today and I'll be able to hunt any daylight hour I want!!!! Can almost smell it.

I'm guessing you use a thumb release? I just got the Scott little goose and I love it. My bow shop will let me try any of the releases he has, everybody knows they have been opened because people want to try themy before they buy them. Sorry about your luck man.

I've used the Little Bitty for the past 8 years or so and it has performed flawlessly. I posted earlier that I've noticed an inconsistency in my shooting and I believe it to be my anchoring. I've read that the Thumb release helps with this issue. I wanna give them a shot. The other things that I don't like about them is the wrist strap. During late season its always bunching up my jacket sleeve. I usually have to take it off to get my jacket on. I also have to turn it backwards to do anything with that hand so its not in the way. Those are my issues that i have with the release, or I should say with that style of release.
I've never shot a thumb release. From my research Stan seems to be top shelf, solid and reliable. That's why I chose them. But thats also why I want to test them out first. I contacted Lancaster today, and they're going to let me try them out. I just have to purchase all of the ones I want to try, ($1000 worth of releases). Then send back for a refund the ones I don't want. So at least I'll get to try them. We'll see how it goes. Maybe this is all for not and I'm being a little girl about it.

I understand wanting to be comfortable with your release. I just hate you have to spend 1000 bucks to find out of that's the issue? even if you're getting your money back.

Alright, up and at em early this morning. I purchased a 2 seater stand off craigslist last night for me and the boy to hunt out of this year and I'm headed to pick it up shortly. As of tomorrow I have one week until season opens up here in GA and 2 weeks until it opens in TN. I'm really excited about the possibility of the boy getting his first deer this year( albeit with a gun) but you have to start somewhere.

I know whatcha mean. Kinda makes me nervous if something happens, I'm stuck with the bill.
I'm willing to drive few hrs to try one out but cant find a dealer around me to do it. Although I haven't checked the Nashville area.
Everybody I've talked to though says they really help with shooting ability.

Went and checked some cameras today. Nothing to get to excited over in New Hampshire yet. A few of the bucks I've been keeping tabs on in Vermont are still hanging around and I'm getting more daylight pictures of them lately, hopefully that keeps up!

Went to check my camera on the property that I posted some buck pics previously. Walk up to the tree and my buddy (who is the person that has the permission to deer hunt the property) put up a ladder stand directly in front of my camera in the same tree. I helped him moved 4 stands yesterday afternoon/evening. He tells me as we're carrying a 2 man ladder stand about a 1/2 mile thru a soybean field that the owners don't want anyone to bow hunt the property this year. I was going to be the only one.

    That's hunting.
Focus on finding your own lease or area to hunt. Some people get funny about hunting on their land.
