Sorry to lose you Coop, but you made the correct decision towards a full recovery on the bicep. Welcome aboard French. I know I've seen you on here for years, but not sure where you're hunting. Where you going to do that killing?

I deer hunt in east central Illinois; mainly Vermillion & Iroquois.

    Waterfowl hunt all over hell.

Doves & Geese in about a week.

Not sure if you guys know that there is a either sex archery tag available thru the IL DNR website for $15. You print up the application, include the $15 and then send it in. Does not seem like many people know about it.

I usually just buy the combo from the gas station, is it cheaper to do it that way?

With the combo for $26 you get a either sex and an antlerless tag. I usually pick up one of the combo tags and an either sex. I try to take a doe to ensure we have some meat in the freezer and then go for a buck. The extra tag can come in handy if you kill a buck and then come across an even nicer one. Fortunately, (or unfortunately ) the state of ILlinois is sending me a free either sex archery tag for my troubles for killing a CWD positive buck.

Hello team --- i've been quite busy with a kitchen remodel the last few weeks (nearly done).

I'm getting very excited for the season and our team is going to be a blast. I'll post my hitlist on here once i've finalized it...

Good reason to recover with an Xbow then. They are cool if you can't draw your compound. Some even have cranks to draw the xbow. Food for thought.

That is useful thanks, could you tell something was wrong when you shot it? I probably won't kill 2 does with my bow so that may be what I do.

I almost put that as the reason I withdrew, but I didn't think anybody would know I was just joking :). I'll be rooting for you guys, good luck.

If any one is looking for some decent camo at a reasonable price, the bargain cave at Cabelas right now has some pretty good deals. I just picked up a jacket, pants and a vest for very little money.

Welcome to the team Frenchbritt! Also, sorry to see you go Coop, but get healthy! Then you can hunt long term. It's not worth injuring yourself further. Take the time and get better ASAP. Glad you are still pulling for us :)

This year is a little different for me. I am starting the season out in Kentucky and finishing it in Arkansas. I am moving in December.

In Kentucky I have a few places I hunt. Mainly my dads farm of 65 acres (honey hole). I also hunt a farm from a buddy at church that is about 100 acres. There we bait them with corn piles and food plots. Then I also rarely hunt an archery only public land spot. Also, I put in for a hunt that I get drawn for every year (since I am active duty Air Force) that is one day on one of the best hunting locations in Kentucky (Bluegrass Army Depot Hunt).

Once I move to Arkansas I plan to try out a couple archery only WMAs and also the Little Rock Air Force Base has hunting on base that is supposed to be very good! Not sure I will be doing much hunting in AR though cause it is so late season and I am hoping to be tagged out by then!

I am really looking forward to shooting my new bow I got in June (Elite Impulse 31)! I have been shooting it really well! I also got a QAD drop away rest and a viper sight. This setup is something I am not used to. My last bow was a 2004 model Bowtech VFT with a wisker biscuit rest. This new bow has been a long time coming! Lol

I went to a QAD drop-away in '10 having used a whisker biscuit for years up until then. The 2 things that improved for me was reduced noise at the shot and consistent accuracy. It will take time to adjust, but you'll probably never go back to the WB!

I've been shooting a lot lately and I'm still having some inconsistencies. I believe I'm dialed in, I think it's a anchoring issue and that my draw is 1/2" long. My original intention was to switch to a Stan so that I could keep the extra 1/2" of draw. But because of cost and some medical bills I haven't been able to get one. So I'm trying to get some old gear sold to be able to afford one. If not I might have to get a shorter draw mod put on my bow for this season. I just hate getting rid of old gear. Ya never know when you might need it.
Gotta get on the ball though. Seasons almost here.

I shot really well last night, tonight I'm going to stop at a local shop and shoot through paper at few distances to make sure everything is still good since I bought the bow this spring. Then it's time to try a few broad heads and figure out what I'm going to like. I have never had a 70 lb bow before so it's a differnt animal

Not sure if this video will work on here or not. Switched out cards on this camera yesterday prior to some rain hitting the area. Guessing him to be a 3 1/2 year old. Probably wont check this camera again until after the archery opener Oct 1st to reduce the human pressure. Had another buck just a little smaller also on video eating beans right in front of the camera, but that one was at 9:00 in the AM.

Edit: Doesn't look like the video uploaded correctly. Oh well!
