Well. We were headed to our congregation bible study tonight and a young woman, early 20's, rolled through a stop sign and swung wide like she was pulling a trailer. I swerved for the side of the road and sped up to avoid her, but she clipped the back of the wagon. Road was wet, which I think was better for us, so it spun us around 180*.
Her mother gets out of the passenger side and meets me saying she doesn't understand how we hit her.
Ummmmm, that's because y'all hit us.

I started laughing. Doesn't pay to get mad with ignorance. Bad thing is, my wife's car is a 96 Toyota Corolla wagon. Very rare in the states. It was broken into by some kids last year and it took us 2 months and $300 to track down a replacement rear window. Shipped from Cali. The next closest one was Japan. So I'm guessing the insurance is going to total it.
    I need tree therapy.

Sorry about your luck but glad everyone is ok. Get in a tree to de-stress.

Headed in to my new set this morning, got my buddy on the other side of the farm. No cam pics last night and with temps in the low 50's they should be moving. Let's see what this morning brings.

Glad to hear y'all were OK Jeep. Your family, Faith and some tree time should help heal those wounds.

Well $%!@ , Guess this hunt is over. I guess the neighbors are having concrete poured because the mix truck pulled up about 75 yards from my stand and just revved the engine up as loud as it would go for about 10 minutes. Gonna wait another hour or so but I think this hunt is screwed:/

Bummer Brad. But hang in there. You never know. I am on stand too but haven't seen anything but one squirrel. My buddy is about 70 yards away in another stand and he hasn't seen anything either. Prob get down in an hour or so. Hope our luck changes.

After the 3rd cement truck I said screw it, will go look at my cards and see if this new buck is on camera and formulate a new plan or hit a different property.

Well I ended up seeing 4 deer. They were all does and I would have shot one but never got a good shot. They stayed between 40-60 yards out the whole time but there was way too much brush, trees and limbs in the way. Had a good time but no harvest. Not sure when I will get my next chance. Good luck everyone!

I'm still whitetail hunting vicariously through you guys till Halloween weekend. That will be my first whitetail hunt this year but it's promising.

My NM Elk hunt was a bust:-/

I work in real estate as a broker & appraiser; which is bad for fishing, but good for hunting. Finally starting to see it slow down a little even though I worked 14 hours on Sunday. Got three stands put up this week and will be putting up two more over the weekend. Season starts in Illinois this weekend, but I will not be deer hunting until about the last week in October. Good luck to the other Illinois guys if they are headed out this weekend! Bought a hunting property a couple weeks ago and been spending time getting it ready too; it's for waterfowl & spring turkey. River property with water on two sides of it that is contiguous to a wildlife refuge. Good luck gents & keep up the good work!

I'll be out Saturday morning as long as it's not raining ️ all depends on weather. I might go out Sunday morning too depending on how Saturday goes. I'll be hunting the public land I have spent this year scouting for the first few weeks of October. I have no idea what to expect but there is plenty of deer sign where I hung my stand and there wasn't any sign of any other hunters that far in. It might be close to Halloween before I touch the private land myself. Don't want to pressure the smart bucks I got running around. I'm mowing the trails for the last time probably Sunday and will pull cards and work my mock scrape I'm trying out this year and pry won't go back until my bow is with me. I'm ready, and pumped.

Sounds like a great plan to me. One of these years I would like to try the mock scrape with a camera seems like a great way to capture bucks on film.

Was just out shooting with my new release. Trying to use back tension is going to take some getting used to. Also since my anchor has changed I'm gonna have to zero back in.

I have never done it but the mock scrape thread I read here made me want to try it. Picked out a new place hung a stand and started over marking just for it. Going to pull my first card off it Sunday and start the actual scrape part, if they haven't started it for me that is.
