For the month Oct (opens 10/1 here) I'll try to get out during nearly perfect conditions. Most of my small property spots near home require a north wind for a clean access/exit and for hunting. I still might not make it out then as Mon-Fri I am instructing a student in my occupation. Usually, I can manipulate my schedule to hunt the PMs early season and then AMs during the rut. Not this season. My best chances will come the week of Halloween when I will be camping at a public land site. This year will be my biggest test to hunt smarter, not harder. I am so proud how well this team has done so early!!

The small properties I have access to hunt have minimal bedding during the season. They are 3, 10 and 12 acres. The 12 also has a large home on it. A couple years ago I saw 4 total deer hunting these properties for the season!! Last year I saw 6 the first day I hunted one of them. Due to their size, I have found that very, very little human presence can effect the quality of the property. I haven't stepped foot on the 3 and 12 acre properties since April while the 10 acre site I pulled a dead camera in July. That property has been over run with ATV traffic this year. I'm hoping that decreases by the time I hunt it. Either way, I'm ready and you guys have me pumped for the season to begin.

Thats cool, I know you are pumped to get in a tree. USAF has me pumped with that buck!!!!! I can't wait to hunt this new property in Shelbyville, it holds some true monsters, deer like I've never seen before in a stand.

Supposed to be really warm here for the next few days, looks like it'll be midweek before it cools back down. I will probably wait until then to go sit again.

Hell of a weekend guys. I passed a good one... he's a giant 3 year old that just needs one more year. :(. But good start for the team, hopefully I can contribute in the next few weeks.

Keep an eye out for this weeks show!

You passed that???? I don't think I could... lol

Well, i'm out of the tree. I saw a little basket 6 this morning at 12 yards and could have killed it or any of the 6 does that came in but i haven't even got my doe back from the processor yet. That should be plenty enough meat for me and mine for right now and i may take another doe later in the year but i just couldn't justify killing it just to kill it. I've got my eyes set on that 10 and still have to go up to Tennessee in a few weeks so I will just hold off unless a buck walks in. I made the investment of a thermacell this year and let me tell you what, that thing makes all the difference in the world. I always thought they were just a gimmick but let me tell you something, those things work and i mean work well. I don't know how i didn't have one before. I may go to a different piece of property about 45 minutes from the house in the morning but that will be depending on what the lil lady wants done. It's a nice piece of about 80 acres on my stepmom's aunt's land that butts right up to a Wildlife Preserve. The guy on the property beside it killed a 170 class deer down there last year so i know there are some bruisers in there, will just have to wait and see and check the camera i have that's been down there for 2 months. Good luck to anyone that is heading out this afternoon.

The Thermocell is awesome! If I forgot mine on an early season hunt now I'd just turn around and go home.

Well I keep looking for the updated scorecard but I don't see any current standings for points??? I thought it would be under the 2016 Official Scorecard thread where I uploaded my buck kill, but I don't see any tallied up scores??? Am I looking in the wrong spot?
