I like the wind and the moon and the setup for tomorrow morning on that 10 point I've been eyeing. He likes to come in at 7:30 and check my mock scrape right before he goes to bed. Might go see if I can't give him a breath of fresh carbon in his lungs in the morning.

I won't be entering any bucks into the scorecard until end of season. I still have 6 tags to fill so I'd hate to report the first one and have the next be bigger

So, let me start by saying that both me and my brother have been going through some times, to say the least. He is facing his 2nd round of melanoma after having his lymph node removed last year and getting a high number count on his test last week. Me, I have been through two strokes and have hunted for 25 years as a gun hunter, I used to bowhunt when I was a kid but after missing 2 deer I kinda gave it up. Well, to come full circle after my 2nd stroke I took bowhunting back up to work my arm out and worked myself up from 30 lbs. all the way backup to 60 and I'm very proud of that.* I have my own legal issues with my ex and my kids right now and on top of that I just lost my job of 16 years so it's not been the best of times. Well, sob story aside, me and my brother decided that we needed some tree therapy so ( I do have a new job) we decided since he had a few days off and I don't start to work until the 1st, that we would to hunting a few days this week so we could try and get through this together. Well, we went Tuesday and nothing was really happening so we decided to try again Wednesday morning. We got up early and we're in the tree by 6:45. I saw ten turkeys and a bunch of squirrels until right when the sun came up. I had two does sneak in over to my right and I couldn't get a shot because it was so thick. About 9 35 I had a button buck walk in and let him walk so he can grow up me and my brother decided we would hunt until 10:30 and do some scouting. I had just stood up and was waiting on my brother when 3 does and a fawn stepped out at 10:29, they were headed the way the other 2 does had gone earlier that morning so I thought my chance was blown again. Well, something changed the head does mind and she circled back around and walked out to 20 yards broadside and was looking the other way while all the other does were feeding. I decided it was now or never and took my time, drew back and watched the nocturnal slip right where I had put my pin. She donkey kicked and ran up about 20 yard and looked drunk and laid down. I figure that it was all over but then she got up and walked another 30 yards and laid down and finally kicked the last she had out of her. I waited 30 minutes until my brother came up and we went and found her laid down. That was an adrenaline rush like no other and I was glad that all the practice I have been doing finally paid off when it was crunch time. Nothing like your first deer with a bow, now it's time to see if I can let my boy get his first deer. Sorry for the long read but that's the story of my first archery deer.
