Okay, so the whole FBI findings report on Hillary truly I think for myself was the final straw. I look around and see people defending a socialist (Bernie), a pompous a-hole (trump) and worst of all a crook/criminal (Hillary).....I see states eroding the rights to bear arms......accountability for ones actions has been thrown to the side so far we'd have to spend years trying to find it and reintroduce it into society.....people are more afraid of offending a criminal/terrorist due to their religion or color of skin they'd rather be quiet than risk "profiling"..... ....the list goes on and on. Serious question, "At what point, or what needs to happen before you personally would join a 2nd American Revolution?" & How close do you think we truly are...or are not? Me personally...I'm about there. I told the wife last night, I truly believe if we have kids they will live through a 2nd Revolution; I just pray their father has the balls to join it!
I'd concur with that Cooter....for me personally. My job is in a great position, just bought my own land and in the personal sense life is better than I deserve...but the corruptness of our government is making me see nothing but red. Don't get me wrong I hope this feeling passes.....I calm down...and it isn't as bad as it feels.
Yeah I understand what you mean. It seems like all the negative stuff are things I mainly just see in the national news. Things don't seem to change much around me (where I live). In fact, my career has never been better over the past 7 years or so.
The backbone of America is aging and the young are not as strong or willing. People with resources will just move to a better and safer place if need be. 35% of Americans would consider leaving the US
While I agree, individually we are most probably better off than any time in history. We are fighting back and forth over First World Problems. But that is different than the heath of the Nation, which is pretty crappy. Personally I don't see us ever having a 2nd Civil War where citizens are taking up arms against each other, at least anywhere near the scale of the Civil War. I could see a group of states taking up votes and succeeding, but any 2nd civil war will almost be completely handled at government level. War on paper only. While the population centers of the country seem to be where the power of the county lies, if it ever did come to a civil war, those centers would fold pretty quickly without a food supply.
I would commit to the revolution once the leaders of the revolution figure out the logistics of keeping me in bullets and arms, that is the thing that people do not get, oh sure most have guns but not enough bullets to put together a sustainable fight.
My duty is to protect my family. If push comes to shove, we move to our cabin and live off-grid in seclusion. In the event of a true full blown revolution, it shouldn't ever come to citizens having to do anything. If things got bad enough, I would hope the military would do a coup and relieve all politicians of their power and reimplement the Constitutional process of replacing them. They swore oath to the Constitution, not a bunch of turds in suits. The problem arises when the military doesn't find government corrupt enough and the people do. In that event, we stand up and fight and the military kills anyone who defies. I hope my kids never ever have to experience something like that and I personally don't want to either but I am fully prepared to dump some tea.
The civil war was terrible, I don't ever want to see something like that again in this nation. I also don't want to see the nation split but it already is basically. I'd like to see the government taken over and fixed by a coup as long as it was reset to where it should be. The problem with that is that I'm not sure just how much of the problem is really the government and how much of it is a citizenry problem.
This is why if we lose the 2nd amendment, we lose the country. Look no further than Nazi Germany, it started with gun registry and resulted in gun confiscation. You're either with the government or dead. Opposition didn't exist. If we allow government to take our guns, we lose our leverage to remind them that they work for us and not the other way around.
Generally we shift as a society by decades. We normally go from conservative to liberal and back and forth. Hillary will be a 1 term POTUS then we will begin the shift back to a more conservative era...or at least compared to what we have been
I don't think we're talking about just a shift in political powers. The growth and corruption of government WAY surmounts the back and forth shift of political leaders themselves. We are talking about the erosion and growth of government, period.
We will shift democrat and republican, but I can't recall shifting more conservative in my lifetime. We have gone more liberal every term in my lifetime.
Well we will continue to shift to more liberal social views because my generation and those below me are less religious. I do think more people are becoming aware of how big the government is getting though
I have all but written off the Federal Government. What I see as the best way to "fight back" is by concentrating on who you elect for you local and state governments. Because if it ever does come to the day the Schtick hits the fan, it is our local governments who you are going to have to stand up for us, and us behind them.
Like all other great empires, this one will fall. It will be destroyed from the inside, not from some invading force like most. We can and will unite against an outside force, but when it comes to internal differences, I just don't see it getting any better. That division will continue to erode this nation until it crumbles. I just hope it's not during my lifetime or my daughters. The corruption within the government is disgusting. We need an outsider that is not already bought and paid for by special interest groups. We need term limits for congress and we need campaign finance reform. We need to expunge ourselves of career politicians and replace them with successful contributors to society. If that could happen, I think we would have a chance of saving this country from implosion. Without that, I don't think we stand a snowballs chance.
