I would say that there is still some chasing going on...also bucks still with does. The late yearlings will be in heat soon and the bucks are looking for them. probably for the next week but then I think its gonna fizzle out quite a bit with the typical feeding after rut patterns starting.
glad this was brought up. I was really trying to pay attention to this this year. I drive truck for a living so i get to cover a lot of area on a daily bases. The last 3 days I have seen 7 bucks that seemed like they were doggin a little bit. hard to tell exactly what is going onwhen your doing 65 down the highway. I have seen a bunch of other deer. Seem like winter wheat is prefered over corn as of now. not sure why but this is what i am seeing. From my past experience, the second rut here in sc wisconsin seems to go from say December 16 to the 25ish. After that it seems like its ALL about the food. I will be back in the stand next week and hopefully can put one down. Wish me luck!
I know of a 150" 9pt that was put down today. He was chasing does, started fighting with another buck, and was shot with muzzleloader while fighting.
