In Northern Illinois and been seeing more deer on their feet in the last few days than I have in a while...despite temps being much higher than normal. It's my first year bow hunting so looking for some input on whether the movement could be attributed to the "2nd late rut" I have heard and been reading about. Does it really exist or happen and should it be going on about now? Thanks for any input.
Yes it should bucks are also into the recovery phase as well and on on their feet more to eat as well.
The mature bucks I've seen the last few days have been on their feet eating. The one I watched last night was eating the greens like it was his last meal. If he wouldn't have had all the broken tines it might have been his last meal.
I am also in N. IL, and saw more rutting out of mature deer in the last 2 weekends then I did in the entire month of November. I have always heard that mature bucks start late and finish late.
Round 2 is definitely happening in NW Louisiana right now. Its been a busy week for the bucks that survived the orange army.
I watched a nice buck dogging a doe on my way home cpl nights ago. Can't wait to get out and see what's shakin tomorrow Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
