I haven't drank much lately and decided on some Leinenkugel's Honey Weiss to celebrate my buddies birthday.

X2, why not keep it going?;)

I'm almost positive it's been well over 28 days since I had a beer. I'm not much of a drinker, but Miller Lite is fine for me.

I am getting more sensitive to the carbs in beer as I age, both in gaining weight, and in zapping my strength. I thinnk I have a sensitivity to the carbs and what it does to my blood sugar..can't really explain it. I just feel better when I don't drink that much these days....that does not mean I don't like to drink some beer every now and then!!!!!

I also did not drink during October and November during last years hunting season and I felt great.

I'm betting I haven't drank more than 6 beers in the past 3 months. I'm more active than I've ever been in my life (physically). And, I just don't have the craving for beer that I used to have.

I haven't missed it one bit. Not in the least.

Good for you Jeff. I am starting to feel the same way. I don't really crave beer these days. But some days it is nice to have a few cold ones, like today for me. :)

A little more than a month ago I went out with my college frat brothers for a couple of days. The drank me under the table, I just couldn't do it. Many of them still dipped tobacco and offered me some...I haven't chewed for over a year. They were still drinking it up good, I was a lightweight!

How is the chewin tobacco thing going for you?

For this time of year, I might recommend a nice saison/farmhouse ale. A couple of my favorites:

Depends on the mood, if you are looking for a quaffer, then a shock top or a pale ale - if you are only drinking one or two, then something heavier like a sam adams or a boddingtons. Personally I prefer brown ales over anything and make it my life's goal to try as many different ones as possible...;)

since you've been on hiatus for a month, you need a decadent beer, something so over the top, rich in flavor and high in calorie/alcohol... I have a few suggestions

Flying Dog Horn Dog barley wine style ale (about 10%)
Goose Island Bourbon County Stout (like 13% ABV and super rich in chocolate/vanilla flavors)
Dogfishead 90 minute IPA (simply one of the best beers in America, period, comes in about 9%)
Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter (about 7%)
Great Lakes Blackout Stout (a nice chocolaty imperial stout at about 10%)

any of those will do the job
