Deer ticks that is... since april

It has been getting worse and worse every year I got Lyme 2yrs ago and have been on the lookout ever since, but still its hard half the time these little guys are about as big as a grain of salt.

Obviously, with our life styles hunting, scouting, shed hunting, etc, etc, we cannot stay out of the woods so im just curious to know what kind of precautions everyone takes.

Little to nothing. I gave up worryign about it. I just Lymes tested every year, and understand if your going to be hunting in the east coast, your going to get it sooner or later.

The only time I worry about ticks is on the land I hunt down near the lake. Every time I go there I get dozens of those little "seed ticks" on me. Before I go, I spray my clothing down well with Permanone. I've had hundreds of those blood sucking ticks fall to their death once they tasted the Permanone. They usually don't even make it to my knee before they fall off.

Btw...27 ticks to date is nothing. See the below pic. :D

Finch what is a seed tick? Those dont look anything like the deer and wood ticks I am used to.

You cant do much to prevent them besides the deet and the permanone. Although everytime I put some frontline on my dog I'm tempted to give myself a little squirt behind the ears!

We call them seed ticks around here but they're just the larval stage of a tick. Read the article below...its actually kinda funny but TRUE.

The very first time I scouted my company's land (where I hunt) I experienced these little devils. I was walking along and noticed a big dirt spot on my pants leg. Then it started moving upwards. I rode home in the nude that evening with my clothes in the bed of the truck. Not fun. The pic in my previous post is my pants leg but thats nothing to some of the "nests" I've run into.

What test do you get every year? Have you had Lymes before?

I use Peramanone and never see a tick. If I forget it I do find some. Many years ago I took a series of 2 injections a year apart from each other that at the time was to block you from Lyme. After I took them it was determined to be non effective and even could give you Lyme in very rare cases and taken off the market. BTW, my dog has Lyme and it has taken a toll on her. They have meds for her but she can't take them for whatever reasons.
