Found some rounds last time so figured I'd try again...anyone out there have some brass or factory ammunition they'd part with?
That is really a old load, I have a buddy that had one. He sold it do to the lack of ammo for it. He wasn't into reloading then. Beefie
Yeah given the round I knew it'd be tough and wouldn't have sought out this round, but it is a gun I got from a dear friend who lost to cancer and truly is a sweet round for mid-sized game...hope to drop an antelope some year with it, and next year IN is set to adopt .243 and up firearms so may set pops up with it.
Oh and....I sadly know reloading is in my future for it....just need to break down and start figuring that all out 100% clueless to it.
I didn't no you could chamber it down to a .243. Excellent round for midsize game, just so hard to find. Beefie
That makes two of us. I have helped my buddies do it here and there. I don't own any rifles that I would need to reload.......Yet. Beefie
No not gonna re-chamber it...it will just be legal for use on deer here so gonna need to have either some ammo or start reloading if pops is gonna be able to use it. I probably won't use it for deer here, love bow too much but if I make it out of state for lope or deer I may who knows.
There no shortage of ammo, the .257 Roberts is a very desirable cartridge, its comparable to 25-06 and will be around for a long time.
The big box stores just don't carry it around here because its not as popular as 7mm,.30-30 and 30-06. I have another buddy that wants me to get a 25-06 like his but the same issues. There is a spot I found that carries the not as popular ammo now or has for awhile and I just didn't no about it. Beefie
Oh let me explain...I don't want to spend enough to simply buy another rifle Hence the reloading or purchasing from fellos not trying to skin my hide.
Yeah....I've noticed that as well.....if I don't get into reloading I'll have to pay the high dollar for boxes from there.
The .257 Roberts in the 117grain round nose is great round of your keeping things under 200 yards. That bullet works super at that speed..2500-2600 ish. However it's loaded very very anemic ....a plus P load like federal with 120 grain partitions brings the round up a few notches. Hand loads even more so.
tynimiller Something to keep in mind, you can form .257 Roberts out of 6mm Remington or 7mm Mauser with a simple neck up or down. Good Luck! MOBU
I found some from a guy (bout 50 cases) not do or die but if you got some I'd pay shipping+a little for the help bud. Sounds though like you got plenty of need yourself.
