It gets cold here. And, cold is cold. It sucks no matter what you say. I deal with it, but I don't have to like it or pretend that it doesn't bother me. I'm already looking forward to the beach in February.
Today was a tough day. This place only sells a few hunts per year compared to other outfitters and their family hunts it as well. They don't put much pressure and try to only shoot mature bucks. They have a minimum score like most outfitters to try and make sure there is always mature bucks on their properties. They only had 3 hunters for the first shotgun season and 2 of the d bags shot 2 1/2 year old bucks well below the minimum on their last sit just because they had to kill a buck.
I'm telling you, the coldest I've ever been in my life was in Iowa. In college we played Northern Iowa in late November or early December. We got off the plane and when I hit the tarmac, my frigging body was in severe pain within 30 seconds. All of us were getting hit with 20 to 30 mph winds and temps that must have been darn near 0. I pride myself on being able to deal with pain and such, but dang it that cold kicked my butt so bad I couldnt even fake being happy!
lol. At least you were playing in the dome! The older I get, the more I hate the cold. I used to think that I would never be one of those pansies that goes south for the winter and now I dream of the day. A beach, my guitar, and a little booze sounds like a pretty darn good winter activity to me. Well, and my wife. A beach, my guitar, booze, and my wife. But not necessarily in that order.
Sad thing is, a lifetime ban does not bring back two potential trophy bucks. They need sack punched. Selfish jerks.
Up north it is a dry cold and that makes a huge difference. Coldest I have ever been in my life was in East Texas when they had freezing rain, the damp cold goes right to your bones.
Agreed! Some of the coldest days here are when temps are low but the wind is out of the south carrying moisture. Hard to explain, but the damp cold is punishing.
We had some days over the last few years where it was between 0 and -25 on my truck thermometer when i went to leave for work. So cold that your spitter freezes. Not a fan. Historic Cold: February 2015 shatters 140-year-old Cleveland cold record - newsnet5.com Cleveland
I experienced that when hunting a costal area once. The dampness on top of the cold can be oppressive the way it weights on you.
