I am not a religious man but several times in my life I have been left in awe over normal everyday events. My grandfather passed away last week. The day after my grandfather passed away, my aunt called and asked my father if he could pay for a train ticket for her and my cousin to attend my grandfather's funeral in Indiana. My aunt is not doing well financially and is in poverty. My father agreed and wired her $211 for the costs of the tickets. My father has recently gotten back into bowling and is 65 years old. Yes, this story has several little twists. Well my dad was at the bowling alley the day after my grandfather died and was not bowling very well and decided to leave early. On the way out a female bowler much younger than him was walking in at the exact same time and asked him if he would like to bowl as a mixed pair in the city bowling tournament. My dad explained to her that he had not been feeling well lately, yet she insisted. He agreed and met her the following day to bowl. My dad bowled an average of 240 per game (at 65 years old!) and his team finished 2nd out of 100+ teams. He pocketed $211 in winnings! I don't know how to explain that coincidence.
That is incredible. I believe in God and find it hard not to since I have seen some amazing stuff. My parents were hurting pretty bad financially and didnt know how they were going to pay one of their bills one time. Well 2 days before they had to pay the bill or have it sent to collections they received in the mail an envelope with no return address and enough money to pay for that bill and a little more. No idea who it came from and we will never know. My parents arent ones to discuss their hardships with others either. Strange...
It never ceases to amaze the power of the Holy Spirit that encapsulate us all for what we need or what we can give. Thank God
Very cool, VS. While we're sharing interesting stories on the subject, about a year ago, my mom's best friend passed away from cancer. While at the funeral, her husband spoke about many things, but one thing in particular stuck with me. He said as he got in his car that day to drive to the church, he started his car and playing on the radio was the song they had their first dance to at their wedding some 25+ years ago. The fact that it was a very odd song to be heard on the stations around here made it really hard to explain. He said he knew then, that she was telling him everything was going to be ok. On the pessimistic side of things, bad things happen to plenty of good people without little in terms of signs, karma, reasoning, and any explanation at all. Perhaps that's part of simply not knowing.
Awesome story VaShadow....and that's the awesome power of God imho. thanks for sharing, you never know who a story like this touches and the things that can come by hearing something like this !!!!!!
