Looking good guys. 1 more to check in, than we can pick a name and a captain. Going away this weekend and bringing my bow and target, going to get in some good practice. may have to bite the bullet and take the hour drive to my hunting ground and check the cameras, it's killing me.
We can start tossing around name ideas and captain nominations now, when In da woods checks in he can throw his two cents in at that time. Any suggestions? 21 Jump String? For Never 21? Jackaces? All I got in a pinch
I like 21 jump string. I've been captain in the past but would prefer not to be if someone else would like to take the reigns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also wanted to let u guys know I will be carrying my recurve to stand this year I'm feeling pretty confident 20 yards in its a bear grizzly 45# at my draw so it should get the job done if I can get the zwickeys sharp enough and the GT 600s flying true. I'm really excited about that but my primary will be my compound I hear alot of guys talk about how they just switched all together well I love both my bows so my recurve is pretty much my back up. If a deer comes anywhere inside my comfort zone with recurve it's getting an arrow for sure. As far as my compound goes well the closer the better but anything inside a 40 yards shot gets it my assasin slings arrows well I'm very confident with that setup. I been hunting all year guys in a sense last season ended badly for me blew two opportunities at trophy bucks one of which was without a doubt my biggest bow kill a main frame six with big brows an lots of character I had never seen until the Rut he came to the rattling antlers. He presented what I thought was a good shot but turned out bad due to shot placement. I'm still bummed about that some things u just never get over lol. This season for me is all about patience properly tuned equipment and shot placement but all in all I had a great time in the woods last year minus the upset best Rut I've ever witnessed hands down. If I had to take a guess in score of that buck he was easily a 150 class buck and that's pretty good for where I hunt. This year I got my game plan an my attitude right you guys got my word on that!!! Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Don't be scared to do it. I dove in headfirst with it and sold my compound. In not looking back either. I've had more fun shooting my recurve in the last several months than I ever had shooting a compound. I figured that since I shoot most of my deer within 20 yards, why not go for it? It's been pretty fulfilling so far. I've made my own turkey wing fletchings, tapered my wood shafts, stained, sealed, crested, mounted heads, etc. It's a great feeling doing all the work yourself and seeing good results.
Cool. I have a book that I love and have read several times. One man's wilderness is the name of it and is about his time at twin lakes. Wonderful read.
I'm good with 21 Jump String as well. I shoot a Mission Riot. Hoping to upgrade next year but we shall see.
Here is my bow with the first batch of arrows that I made. It's a black widow pch v ironwood. It's 56" and 52@28.
Here's a few bucks running around this year. We try to stick to the 4yr and older age class. A couple of these make the age hit list and there are a few we are still waiting to show up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
