Keep at it fellas. Man, if we could all put a doe on the ground it would make a huge difference.

    Nice bucks guys!

Very disappointing Rut-vacation. I took about 11 days off work. Sat all day 6 times. I saw one shooter in Michigan! Hunted Kentucky 3 days and saw 3 shooters. We hunted the morning of the gun opener in Ky Saturday then headed back for the gun opener here. I asked my pal why we were heading back to MI then remembered the D-bag tagged out ;) DSC_0225.jpg

She almost busted...again, but I got the drop on her today. I'll put her up on the scoreboard.
So freaking pumped, pretty good story to follow, I can still here the schwacker hit her chest.

I had one of the best/crazy hunts in 25 years today! We had a 30 degree drop in temp last night and this morning the deer were moving. Between 7 and 9 I had 9 or more different bucks come thru just seeking, not chasing a single doe. This happened for 2 hours, there were bucks coming from every direction and running every thicket just looking for does. There was 2 big 10 pt in the group and the first one came by at 25 yards and I stopped him. I was already drawn, when he stop I rushed the shot and the same time he turned towards me and I shot right down the side of him. It sucks but it was a clean miss. Got a second arrow on and pulled back, but by this time he started walking back in the thicket. Saw a huge 10 pt about 45 minutes later but never could get a clear shot, so lost my chance at any other bucks while waiting to get a shot at the big 10. What a crazy morning, ended up seeing 13 deer this morning.

Well guys, hopefully some of you will find some free time to get in the woods over the upcoming holiday weekend. Best of luck to you all and have a Happy Thanksgiving with your friends and family.

I will be out the next few days, have rifle season start this Saturday. After that it's very hard to find a buck, but I'm going to keep at it. And happy thanksgiving to you TJ and the rest of the team.

    Hey fellas,

I shot a doe yesterday and posted it to the scoreboard. Its been crazy here in Wyoming. I only have a couple of doe tags but the bucks are chasing does, coming to grunts and rattling, and putting on a show. I've had four 120-130 bucks at 20 yards multiple times and have seen some bigger bucks. A friend of mine shot a 10 point this morning but hasn't scored it yet. Not a giant but his first whitetail with a bow. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Some of you may have seen this in the live thread...

Thanksgiving morning I did get a doe.
    uploadfromtaptalk1448990148237.jpg

The bad news was it was with the car...
    :(
    uploadfromtaptalk1448990197311.jpg

I was home with her before sunrise with the accident report.

She and one other (probably her fawn) that I saw came out of woods and she accelerated right into the car. I pulled out my head lamp and then pulled her out of the road. Pretty limp, but I saw her blink but listless so I figured she would expire in a few minutes and I headed back to the car.

While waiting for the cop 3 other hunters stopped. The first asked if I hit that deer and was OK and then told me she was still alive. I told him I was waiting on the cop as I wasn't sure of any local ordinances and off he went. The second asked if I hit the deer and said he was gonna throw her in his truck, I told him otherwise-he told me he hunted the nearby property and they were baiting them (WTH...like that was going to change my mind?!)...and off he went. Cop (state trooper) shows up, gets my info and starts writing up the report (and I asked him for a salvage tag) and the third hunter shows up...asks if I hit the deer, was OK and if I wanted her. Told him yes and he asked if he wanted me to put her down. I said yes, as I was still a bit rattled, and the cop gave him the nod. So we walked back up to her laying on the shoulder...

Now while waiting for the cop, an occasional car would pass and I'd see her usually laying there with her head up, but twice standing up after getting hit at about 55mph. So I was a bit unsure of her state... after the guy realized she had more life left in her than he thought when he was going to slit her throat, he quickly got wise and put a shot in her (neck).

Back to the car and off the guy goes. Cop says "I'll swing around behind you with the lights on so you can load her up a bit more safely." He that's decent of him I'm thinking.

We go to load her up and she's still kicking. Talk about stamina!

I'm not sure why, but the cop didn't want to put another bullet in her...so at this point I ask him if he minds if I do. Which was quick and humane...

In hindsight, only thing, I'd do differently was put her down right after dragging her out of the road..

Ah well...at about $60/lb, she is going to taste spectacular...every bite. The wife is a bit pissed...still.

I will be heading out tomorrow to hunt most of the day. Check my camera on my micro plot in the woods and thanksgiving evening with about 10 minutes of shooting light left, I had a doe and a wide 8 pt come thru. The buck had short tines but his brows were a good 8" long. Last 2 days has been raining none stop and it's clearing out by tomorrow, hopefully I still can catch a buck cruising.

I'm still getting out, but last 5 sits I have seen 0 deer. I'm going to keep at it. Have til January 31 for bow season. The only place I have to hunt this year has been really slow for the whole property. 16 bucks were shot last year by this time, and this year there has only been 2 shot. Really odd year .

With 1 vehicle out of the fleet, I'm sidelined till it is repaired or the kids are on holiday break...which is driving me nuts.

Dang, my daughter-in-law hit a deer with her 2014 4-Runner in September and almost totaled it. Got it back in October and hit another one in early November. I killed a couple does in Wyoming, and a bunch of birds (Huns and Chukars). Got back to Texas on Thursday about 2 pm after driving 21 hours. Got up at 3:30 am on Friday and drove the 100 miles to Oklahoma for another try at getting a buck. My buddy and I sat morning and evening and saw nothing. Saturday morning I was just flat discouraged and tired so I slept in. My buddy saw a small buck following a doe but nothing else. We have until January 15 but I have never seen a shooter buck after Thanksgiving so I'm not sure how much more time I'll be spending in the woods. Hopefully a little second push of a rut will start up in a couple of weeks. The striper bite is picking up so I'm being pulled in two directions right now. :)

I have until Jan. 15 to take a doe, which I fully expect to capitalize on. It's getting harder to catch them on their feet as the days keep getting shorter.

They start getting longer after the 21st. :D

    Good luck!

Our normal season ends 1/1. NC does have a few cities with an urban archery season after the start of the new year that runs for about a month, but not our city and I don't have permission from any property owner's in the cities with this program.
