OK I'll be "that guy", drinking something else.

Well, looks like this weekend will be a total washout for me, on account of a hurricane.

Hey that's not half bad, worst case is that you still enjoy a cold beer. I hung mine on a line last night, it was misting out but I still had a good fire going.

I made it out opening morning here in Michigan. The wind was perfect for one of our high impact bedding area stands. We have two of these types of stands that are actually in our “sanctuaries”. In order to hunt them we need to be in the stand 2 hours before shooting light. I was set and ready to go at 5:30 am.

Just after day broke I could see a few deer on the food plot through the trees. A few minutes later I caught movement thirty yards in front of me, then a flash of antler. I grabbed my bow clipped my release and…………. watched a four point come out of the brush. That’s a great spot but won’t get hunted again until after the 25th and will be all day sits only.

The area I hunt opened yesterday but I'm not hunting this weekend. It is public land that is a little over 100 miles away. The weekend opener resembles a trip to the Dallas zoo minus all the animals, so I'm staying away. Should be in a tree sometime next week though.

I do the same with one decent chunk of public land. Mid-week seems to be more reasonable...maybe a couple hunting morning and few afternoon.

Smitty that deer is huge! I love big 8s. Does it look like you might has a good chance at him?

I was working at my new house and about a hour before dark there was 11 doe came behind the house. I love having a place with deer on it and being able to see them right out the window.

This weekend rather sucked. Saturday it was windy and I did not see a thing. Sunday I woke up with a splitting headache but still went to the stand. After about an hour I could not stand it anymore and went home. I will be heading to Indiana for a wedding this weekend, I will head out this Thursday morning for a few hours but that is all I’ll get this week.
    Good luck to you guys.

How about a quick check-in from everyone? Who is doing what and when? I'm taking Thursday off to hunt for the first time this year. Pretty excited.

I just settled on my house last Wednesday and all my free time is spent there for the next month. But I will be done before November and taking a week off just to hunt. But the cool thing about this house is there are deer everywhere! Every night they are walking all around the house, lots of does and fawns and a few small bucks. No big boys yet.
