Looks like his right side is broken off McArthur, might just be the angle too. I'm envious of you guys that have early Sept. openers. The 26th seems like forever! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm going nuts! Got everything packed and ready to go for tomorrow. Just hope I can sleep! I don't know if I will have enough service to get on here to keep you guys update. But I am going to the truck around lunch and I can give a update then. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
And good luck to you Bill. It went from in the 80s at night to 60 tonight. I have a great feeling about tomorrow Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Back home with some internets to load pictures. If this is the same deer I let walk two seasons ago, which I think he is, he has grown pretty well. Two seasons ago, late season freezer has plenty of venison, a small buck missing his right side antler hangs out under my stand. He had 3 points on his remaining antler. Last year I watched him licking a branch across the field, had weird right side antler but the left antler was clean. So I think this is the same deer, pretty cool to see him grow year to year.
This morning was a bust, no deer. Going back to the same stand this evening. It has always been a better evening stand. I will keep you guys posted on what happens Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
No never saw a deer all day. The wind in the afternoon was strange and started swirling. I will be going back out today Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Crap! I made a call this morning to set in a different spot. Seeing/Hearing nothing after the deer, before light, stopped to pee (ya know your close when you can hear it)...i moved. Past the spot I was originally planning to sit...jumping a deer a few yards away.
Drove 18 hours yesterday and got in at 1:15 am from my Wyoming trip. Drew first blood for 2015 but can't add any points to the board just yet. I took an antelope at 50 yards within 15 minutes of my first stalk. That doesn't typically happen to me. I was glad it did as it allowed me to focus on elk hunting with my buddy. We didn't connect but he still has some time to get it done. This was the strangest year I have ever seen hunting elk. They were not calling at all and in 10 days I heard one spike squeal and that was it. I can't begin to explain how unusual this is. We saw very few elk in an area that is loaded with elk and learned that many of them have moved off the mountain into the alfalfa fields on private land. This usually occurs in November in our area. One of the highlights of the trip was that I had lunch with JZ after my son picked him up at the airport to take him deer hunting. If you saw this week's Bowhunt or Die episode, you saw the deer he got. They worked their tails off to get that deer and I was happy for them. I had hoped to get a doe tag as shooting a doe is usually not too difficult. Since the elk hunting was so tough I opted not to spend the time deer hunting. I will be back in November so maybe get a chance then. Here is my buck.
Well I am on a last minute scramble to get set up on a new property, Walked it yesterday and didn't see any deer but it is THICK THICK, sadly its mostly cedar and hedge though, no LG mature trees to speak of for a tree stand but it looks very promising. Guess I'll be grabbing a couple extra ground blinds this week.
Thanks fellas. I love antelope hunting. They are a really neat animal and spot and stalk is a real challenge.
