For the first year in a while Mathews came out with something truly "all new" for 2024, and I have to admit, I am in love with these bows. I set up a LIFT 33 for myself, and it's pretty freaking amazing. I hope to finish tuning it this week and then air it out a bit one afternoon to finalize my tape setup, then take it to the woods with me for the remainder of this season. If you haven't checked them out yet and are looking for a new bow, this sucker is going to be tough to beat!

MSPR only increased by $30 from the Phase4, which is nice. Especially considering all of the new features.

    Notable features, changes, etc.
    • Under 4 lbs on the 29" model - as an aluminum bow that is pretty dang impressive. And the 33 is just 4.26 lbs.
    • Faster than previous models by about 8 fps. Not a huge deal for me, but worth noting.
    • Available up to 80 lbs now for the folks who think they're Cam Hanes.
    • New Earth solid color, Mossy Oak Bottomland camo, and "fade to black" series that is solid on top and fades to all black on the bottom. Those look SWEET.
    • New limbs, limb cups & axle system. The limbs are a lot thinner with more pre-load on them than previous models. And the axles ride on top of the limb now rather than through it. Unfortunately, it still uses the tophat system, which can be a bear, but it is what it is. Once you get your bow set, you usually don't have to touch it again. So you only have to cuss about it once.
    • New Match strings. Time will tell how good they are, but all reviews so far are super positive. I've got a few dozen shots through mine with no peep movement to speak of yet.
    • Shot Sense system - a small sensor that mounts in the riser under your rest and tracks all sorts of data about your shot. Hold time, MOA, bow cant, bow level, bow torque, and then gives you a score from 0-100 on how good your shot was. Pretty cool to track your behaviors and then work on trying to fix or improve things you may not even realize you're doing. I think this is going to be around $350 or so.
    • New limb legs - it makes sense to fit the new limb cup design. A bit more sleek than the previous model and still super functional.
Overall, I've been super, super impressed with this bow so far. I'm pretty reserved in saying any new bows are my "favorite" or the "best ever" unless I truly believe it. I can't say those things without some more time behind this thing, but so far, the trajectory is certainly pointing in that direction.

Did they keep that rubber spacer thing in between the limbs this year?

Seems like a real solid offering from Mathews, all the ones I had in the past chipped paint like crazy. Did they fix that on the newer bows? The last one I had was a V3.

I was looking at getting the match strings and cables on my vxr but that doesn't seem to be an option on there site. Do these strings and cables work for that bow?

Why not have set of custom strings built from a top builder? They will absolutely be cheeper and better then anything that comes from Mathew’s no matter what they chose to call them

Well, that's a positive outlook on things!

I doubt that a company like Mathews is incapable of building a great set of bow strings. All reports on the Match strings so far have been glowingly positive, which is good to see.

To the OP - I don't think they're going to offer replacement strings for older bows. Maybe they will at some point, but I'm sure they have all hands on deck building strings for the Lift bows that are being ordered now. So with that said, a good set of aftermarket strings from a reputable builder is probably your best way to go right now.

So many places make a good set of strings.
The main difference between "match" or "custom" strings is they are pre-stretched. Normal factory strings usually are not, thus they end up stretching quite a bit. Peep rotation and cams going out of time a lot more frequently.
    Then there is what material.
452x is fairly popular. It is stable but does get fuzzy fairly quickly if you carry the bow by the string or walk through a lot of brush.
X99 is my favorite, it is very similar to 452x but is more resistant to getting fuzzy quite as quickly as 452x.
Then there is Bloodline (Vec99). It has a coating on it and is VERY resistant to getting fuzzy for a long time. I found it to also be very stable. The coating on it will cause it to bleed colors, so getting it in two colors can often cause the darker color to leach into the lighter color, or a darker string color will leach into a lighter serving color. It is also pretty slick from the coating, need to tie peep in with the Gillingham method or similar or else it may slip. Football clamp for a cable driven rest is even more prone to slipping than normal too.

I really like Catfish Customs strings. Mike builds great strings and I've never had a problem with them.
I also like Threadz, my Revolt-X I bought used has a Threadz string set on it, it has been really stable. It is 452x material and has been shot so much that I had to reserve the center serving, it was worn out at the nock point. Still hasn't moved and barely any fuzz yet.

Order for a LH lift was placed today through my local dealer. I went with the earth to black 29.5 in 80lb with 80 percent letoff in 29 inch draw. Went with black and tan match strings. Also put on the mathews bridgelock sight and earth low pro quiver. I know it will be a few months before I get it I am excited for next season already to put it through its paces.

I just spent the last couple of hours messing with mine and getting it tuned up. All kidding aside, this is easily the nicest bow Mathews has ever made. I'm not one to throw around the "favorite bow" every year, but this one isn't even close. I can't wait to finish setting it up to hunt with it. Hopefully, by next week it's ready for the field.

Halon 32, Traverse and VXR would probably be my Top 3 before the Lift came out.

I am still using my z7 but now im looking at the Triax or VXR 28. Any reason why you'd really lean towards the VXR over the Triax ?
