***2024 Deer Contest Smack-Talk and General Banter Thread***

@Fix and I been talking, somthing publicly is in order. TBD, stay tuned.

 

I’m A little envious of you guys. We have a drawing for deer tags where I’m at. I usually only get a deer tag at home every other year but this year I got two years in a row. I do get to hunt Elk Every year though. I’m working on getting a Whitetail hunt in though.

 

I’d give up endless doe tags and a buck tag to chase down elk. At least for a couple years, it’s give and take ! You ever end up in Pa, I’ll have deer for ya.

I love hunting elk. I told my wife before we got married (that was a little over 40 years ago) She grew up on a beach and I grew up in the mountains. Thank goodness she picked me and the mountains. I usually do a trip with her every year to the beach.
Don’t get me wrong I really enjoy hunting deer. There is just something about hunting elk.

Headed to Kansas tomorrow to set stands and clear shooting lanes. Already have some good moment on camera.

 

Ok, I was remembering that it was around 125. Sign of my age catching up with me.

 

Can we please institute a rule that makes every squirrel arrowed from the stand worth 1 bonus point? Maybe 2 points if you have video or audio proof that it was an extra obnoxious squirrel or one that was jerking off in the leaves? It would give us folks who live in the small deer states a fighting chance?

Around here you can hunt a lifetime and you’ll be lucky if you ever even see a 150” buck, much less get a shot on one…

What we do have is squirrels. We got grey ones, we got fox ones, and we even got gigantic black ones that steal golf balls and which the uninformed run away from because they think they’re skunks.

If every squirrel was worth $1, then over the course of a lifetime of deer hunting in NC you would’ve probably watched the entire United States federal debt(1) scurry by your stand. We might not have big deer here, but we sure as **** got a f**kload of squirrels and they’re a heck of a lot harder to hit with an arrow than a deer is. Give us folks who live in the small deer states a fighting chance.

(1) That’s pre-Biden/harris debt… there ain’t enough squirrels on earth to count for the current debt

 

Bring the rain and go to two man teams think of the dynamics, your not gonna let you partner down. No deer gets left behind
