We interacted on Facebook once, randomly. I thought about sending a friend request, but then I remembered my wife. If your meme game on Facebook is anything like it is here; I would have to quit the forum the first time my wife saw one of your posts and I like it here.:whip:

Since all of those extra does and bucks don’t count I believe you just proved him right.

The biggest buck I’ve ever killed with my bow was only 127” and my biggest with a gun was only 136”.

I’m not a big buck hunter. I just love hunting and killing deer.

They count as hyperbole; it is just building the argument for you to be a one-man team for year.

That would be interesting, LC starts the season with his previous years score, and adds the current season scoring every deer.
That would be almost the same as what the winning team had last year
    LC 2021 & 2022 - 1206 2/8
    Team 8 2022- 1182

And while shooting everything that walks near him he keeps Joe from getting banned from site, contest running somewhat smoothly and tracking down people who cant post/ score their deer correctly...

So, I’m curious for the reasoning behind the requirement of posting 50 times to become eligible to enter?

The old requirements was 25 post. People would sign up for fourm, then post 25 times in the first day. Then sign up for contest. Once placed on team, you would never hear from them again. My guess was they were just hoping to be placed on a winning team and win a something with out participation.

My guess is with more post, keeps random people from doing this. Got to be alittle more active member to participate.

LOL Fair enough! However, I behave on FB for the most part because people can find me by name on it, and I'm a licensed professional.

Yeah, what Holt said above pretty much nailed it. When the contest first started back in 2008 there was no post count restriction on signing up. People would join the forums, see the contest and sign up for it. Then they would leave and forget all about it. When the time came and teams were assigned there were a ton of people that didn’t check in because they had never logged back in after they signed up. This is a huge problem for the person overseeing the contest. Replacements have to be found and sometimes there aren’t enough of them.

2013 was the first year that a post count restriction was put in place and it was 25 posts required to sign up. This move improved the situation but it’s fairly easy for someone to rack up 25 posts. Quite a few people would rush, make 25 posts, sign up for the contest, log out and then disappear. Again, a huge problem when the teams are assigned.

I took on the responsibility of running the contest in the middle of the process in 2020. I had a lot of people who made their 25 posts, signed up and logged out, never to be heard from again.

In 2021, at the request of quite a few members I upped the post count requirement to 50 and when the teams were assigned I didn’t have a single no-show. It takes a little effort to get to 50 posts and by the time most people reach that point they are going to stick around.

I did have a few no-shows last season, but nothing like we’ve had in the past.

Another big thing is participation. It’s a real bummer when someone is placed in a team, they check into their team thread and then disappear.

Quite a few people would still like to see the post count requirement higher, but I think 50 is a good number to have it at.

    Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation!

Thanks, too, for running the contest. If it is anything like the other ones I’ve participated, it is no small task.

No problem. It's not really that bad once the teams are built and all of the gaps are filled.

Four more posts and you'll have 50 yourself. If you do sign up just remember to look for the teams to be posted on August 29th and be sure to be active and participate in your team thread.

You can make life-long friends here on the forums.

I was wondering who would line up to take offense to that comment. Just making sure everyone is paying attention.
